I put a Curt front receiver on my Mojave, had to trim the remote shock res. bracket basically cutting off one bolt hole, and had to remove the nutsert for that bolt. Trim the bracket right and it lines up with the curt bracket so the one bolt holding it is solid can’t move as the hitch bracket holds it in place. Putting hitch on was about a ten minute job after that, putting the skid plate on took hours as I trimmed a bit at a time, until just about done I realized you have to cut out a big square and the hitch fits fine, frame of receiver hitch is right up against skidpkate, very solid....Jack

did you choose the Curt model over the Draw-tite for any reason? in particular was it going to be easier to modify/install than the Draw-tite?

Looked "better built", looked tucked up a bit better, and was impressed with the build and install went real smooth.

We finally received the @RLD Design USA cap yesterday and had it installed by Rhino Adventure Gear! It spent nearly 6 months at sea but was worth the wait!

We went with a color matched rear door, which is a bit different since it's usually black. I think the color matching came out great.

which did you go with? If the draw-tite how did it fit/install?
I just placed the order for the Curt receiver. I'll upload some pics once it's installed.

I went with the Curt over the Draw-Tite because its receiver tubing is tucked up higher to the bumper and its mounting points interfere less (but still interfere) with the skid plate/shock reservoir brackets.

Ok, I'm about halfway through the front receiver install.

I needed to remove the right rivnut to fit the hitch between the rails.

I was able to keep the left rivnut and will space the left bolts with washers accordingly. You can also see that the front rivnut was never installed. Curt assumes this rivnut is installed, so I picked up a couple from the dealer.

I needed to cut both the left and right skid plate/shock reservoir brackets to fit the profile of the hitch flanges. I know some members were able to trim just one bracket, but it was too tight on my particular Gladiator, to the point of also needing to remove the rivnut as mentioned above. I'm thinking of having a shop weld the skit plate brackets to the hitch flanges.

The hitch is mocked up with all the brackets fitting.

Unixxx, your done , you did I think the best job, I've seen including mine, DO NOT WELD IT, that will just cause place for corrosion and problems if you have to remove hitch, hitting the nuts with black gloss paint is a good idea in the salt belt areas. Nice job!.....Jack

Man, the cuts you made on those brackets are so precise they look like factory. Very impressive work!

Thanks @Jaxmax. Can you explain more about the weld causing corrosion?

When you weld it ,the paint on inside of frame can burn off, and painting it might be difficult, but not a big deal but welding the res. bracket prevents you from easily changing type of shocks later or removing hitch…..Jack
