And bolted them in place. Iron Rock supplies some ultra-beefy hardware to lock in the control arms.

Those control arms, after adjusting for length, just dropped into place. Once they were secured, I tightened the clamping collars to lock them in place.

Another successful day, now 3/4 of the way to completion. My helper has been under the Jeep most of the time (except when sparks and molten metal was flying!)

I am wondering out loud why we do not see the Iron Rock suspension products as often as the major manufacturers seem to show up.

My guess: Advertising and market exposure.

Looking at the product, the IR suspension pieces are on par with those of any of the largest and most popular manufacturers. Pricing is good as well: $ 4,300 for the front and rear long-arm upgrade with four new springs.

Me: I'm glad I stumbled across their website during my search for which long arm suspension system I would choose.

You are making it look easy, but I am betting the grinding was tough. Looks like a nice kit.

Iron rock is known, it just depends on how/where they market. Iron was well known in XJ circles. Them moving to the JK/JT is a newer development because it's a new model and it takes time to develop products for new systems.

It's not!
Cutting and grinding are no fun and take hours. Probably 60%-70% of the time spent!

Are those bolt on brackets wrapping around the whole frame tube and bolting through it? Did IR provide solid bushing to be inserted into the center of the frame to prevent frame crush from torquing the bolts down?

The brackets bolt to one side and the bottom. They supply nut plates that you "Fish" to the inside of the frame. Brackets attach the same as the factory, two sides. IR brackets are 3x the thickness of factory brackets
Note: The metal in our frames is really hard. Drilling it is like drilling stainless. No doubt its strength more than makes up for its relatively thin cross-section.

Only two control arms remaining to complete this semi-formidable task.

On this back corner, I am using a metal saw to remove the big pieces. There is really nothing in the back, or crowding me, or interfering with a full-on assault with the saw.
This actually went quite well, but with a dinner date, I ran out of time to get it all the way to the painting stage. That will have to happen tomorrow.
Had I worked 12-hour days on this, it certainly would not have taken me over a week to finish the job. I prefer to work on the Jeep for a few hours to maybe 6-7 max, so I don't get sloppy. I have all the time I need to get after it, and that is why this, and really all of my projects, seem to get stretched out.

Thanks to springtime and lots of yard work the following few posts are what I got done today.
I continued removing the factory control arm brackets, but left far more on the frame this time as the weldments and material serve to strengthen those areas.
