A 5.7 would be nice. I have no need and will never pay for a 392. But I hoghly doubt Jeep will put a 5.7 in them. So I’m really holding out to be able to get 4.88 gears. But knowing Jeep you’ll have to get the entire package tires wheels and all, so it’ll prob just be cheaper to get a shop to regear it.

(Jeep did not offer the LJ in Blue)
06 TJ/LJ could be ordered in Midnight Blue Pearl, color code B8. Been on the lookout for one for many years. :)

Pretty sure there were no 07 TJs or LJs but I could be wrong.

So someone correct me if I’m wrong, but Jeep hardly offers any incentives for rubicon’s. Right now they have 2,000 cash allowance. Maybe a push to get 21s out the door. And they can announce 22s next week maybe?

This site has traditionally been pretty accurate. But who knows this year. As for the later model year changeover, the for the past several years Charger/Challenger/300 have always been late in the year changeovers.

2022 orders accepted July 12th, production starts November 22nd.
Am I missing something? It says final 21 orders due 4/8/21. I know ppl have been placing orders by then.

That bodes well for finally getting the MY22 details next Wednesday. Late production start though... If the last MY21 orders were due yesterday, and MY22 production doesn't start until late November... 5 months with no new orders able to be delivered? What are they building during all that time? People are getting their custom orders in under 3 weeks, and retooling a line doesn't take but a few weeks. Surely they're not building a bunch of MY21s for dealer inventory to just sit on lots once people know what's coming; that's the whole reason they keep the next model year's improvements a secret until the last possible moment.

EDIT: I initially read the end of MY21 orders date as July, but the interim post points out that it was April. That's clearly not correct. Either there was a typo, or something's up with that data.

lol @Jglad15, Gupton is gonna be busy when 22 drops! Maybe I'll see you there.
Other dealerships here in the forum, sniffing around like emaciated jackals, should take note: if y'all weren't such scumbag outfits, maybe your share of the marketplace would increase.

Gupton doesn't knock your dix into the dirt everyday because they're lucky....

A 5.7 will have me trading in my Mojave! I highly doubt Jeep would do that though. Wishful thinking!
A 350 hp 5.7 that is $3000 extra would be fantastic. The engine cost less than that as an option in a Ram.

Unfortunately, I think corporate average fuel economy (CAFE) may get in the way of that.

I'm not totally sure. We had a '16 Grand with the 5.7L Hemi and the MPG ratings were very close to the V6, and in practice it actually could often do better than the V6. It's really the "right" motor for the job in the Grand, and I think it would be in the JL/T as well. At the end of the day, it takes a certain amount of power to move the vehicle in a given situation/speed, which should require a given amount of fuel. Obviously when you're in a situation where you're using more power from the V8 than the V6 can even make, you'll use more fuel. But at a consistent say, 70 MPH cruise either one can make the power to get it done... it comes down which engine is more efficient at making that amount of power, with the V8 shutting down cylinders it can actually be slightly more efficient at times.

A 5.7L Hemi would also create a big problem for Jeep dealers. They'll have a glut of trade-in 3.6s and even new 3.6s on the lot that won't sell. If the 5.7 is only a $3k option I don't see many people picking the V6. I suppose they could just make really low offers on trade-in 3.6s and fire-sale the new 3.6s on lots, but I don't think they'll want to do that...

I almost ordered a 2021 on 25 June but the ordering manager said if I wanted to wait for the 2022 guide he felt it would not be but a month or so. I have found that if you use the build feature from the Costco auto program that it is really up to date. That guide updated the gorilla glass option back in June.

They would probably do what they are doing with JGC L, offer the 5.7 in the highest trim levels. So only put it in the Rubicon, Mojave, and High Altitude. That way the 3.6 still sells.

What they need is a Better ‘base-model’ engine.
