I maintained my excellently, and at 125k miles or so it has failed me. I am very disappointed in what I thought was going to be a long running, reliable platform and I will no longer recommend it to others.
what was the failure? and time for a hemi?

I'm probably on the lighter usage side with my 3.6L as I've had mine since May 2020 but as of today it's only got 27k and change. That Covid life turned into working from home so it never had to commute.

But most of it's running time these days is either 4-low, couple hour trips each way to get into 4-low, and mostly short drives around town. So it's not got an easy life. I can't believe the batteries are still going coming up on 4 years this May. I should probably look into getting new ones to have on standby.

I run it on 37s with stock 4.10 gears and it does everything I want it to. Could it scream less trying to maintain speed up grades? Sure...definitely envious of the 3.0L diesel! However, it's doing right by me and I think I had one recall for PCM software update for misfire stuff.

It's okay by me.
sounds like a good truck to me

Kinda intrested to see how this community feels about the primary power plant of the sickest truck ever made.
It's got 80 more HP than a base C4 Corvette.

It's a light weight truck and motor does what it needs to.

I've over 128K on my 2020 now and amazing no major issues yet. Most of it is highway commute miles and the retired couple I bought it from allegedly used it for pulling a tear drop the entire time they had it. Not to say it doesn't get abused off road now and again, but I check it over and get oil changed when it supposed to get done. I'll have it in to my local trusted mechanic this summer sometime just to inspect and change plugs/battery/etc.. I expect the body and other components will die on me well before the motor does. So I've no worries about the motor.

Perfected and simple, presumed more reliable as result, but tradeoff being nat-aspirated engine will be underpowered, especially for this heavy chassis= Summary.

You think the 3.6 is noisy? IMO, the 4.0 blow it away with truck-like valve train sounds.
My 3.6s have always been really quiet compared to any 4.0 I've had.
Our 3.6s have idled so smooth both my wife and I have actually gotten out, or started to get out, not realizing the engine was still running. The Grand Cherokee engine bay is of course pretty well insulated so it's even more quiet with those.
My son even got out of my JT last summer, not realizing it was still running (luckily it had auto-park!)
I don't consider the 3.6 to be noisy at all - not compared to many other engines I've had, and especially the 4.0s I've owned and still own. A friend even commented "the 4.0 sounds like a true truck engine" (he dropped one into a 80 Concord he had he loved the engines so much for low end grunt and being bullet-proof - not not quiet)

It started burning coolant about 1k miles ago. Headgasket maybe? The only stress that it has had is towing a trailer up around the maximum weight, but it has never got hot, let alone over heated.

Sad it comes down to dealer service again. Sometimes the only solution is like you mentioned- just keep on driving it until it won't go any more.
I wonder if it is at times a matter of "can't find anything" or "can't spend the time due to Jeep constraints" sort of thing.
You are stuck.
