this is defo interesting. I never liked the feel of the paddle shifters in the raptor or the Benz. No heft to it. and since I we are not breaking into turns here on our lifted trucks I am not sure this is more fun than just pulling the lever ? Esp with the 8 speed if you have short gears it’s a bit annoying finding the right gear for every setting.

Dave, would your transmission tune work on a non-blown/engine tuned JT?
Yes it would.

Also I believe JScan will work to activate the paddles, but they will shift the same speed as your autostick, at the moment. I have adjusted pressures, clutch touch up and RPM points in my tune to utilize the paddles to their full extent.

You need to drive my truck. This is the first opportunity I have had to actually fully tune shift paddles. It has been a hoot and went way better than I would of imagined.

Do a video !!!! the fun part about paddles is downshifting :). btw the most fun I had was with a ratchet shifter in my mustang. this would be fun for the gladiator as well

Shrinkhead I imagine you ECM is unlocked, I could probably get this implemented on your beast. Just saying ?

Interesting. Does tuning the transmission require the same unlocking as engine tuning or is the TCM unlocked already? Either way, what all is needed to make it happen?

I'm much more a fan of "tight" feeling shifts vs the "needs to appeal to everyone" shifts that vehicles give from the factory.

The transmission ECM does not need unlocked, I have never tried to just pull a transmission tune by itself. I can try it on my wife's car tonite?

Oh man, that would be awesome if it's not too complicated. I really want more power, but that's going to wait until the warranty runs out. Having a sharper transmission and paddles will keep me happy in the mean time.

So I was just able to download the transmission tune on my wife's 4xe no issues so my guess is I can do trans tunes only. No unlocking needed. Will still need 4 credits from HP Tuners to flash it and an MPVI2 interface.

For the transmission tune, is it only firm in manual/paddle mode and normal in auto mode?

Well the settings for the paddle shifter are seperate from the regular shift schedule. I don't have jist a transmission tune so to speak. The changes for the paddleshift is easy to apply though. If you go shift your autostick that is the performance you will get with the paddle shift, with no changes made.

Having no experience with HP Tuners, my rough searching leads me to believe that would be about $400 for the MPVI2+ and $200 for 4 credits. Do you have to buy a tuner for a specific vehicle or can you borrow/rent a tuner? It seems like a high cost for something I probably won’t need to change again.

Has anyone used the JScan app to successfully enabled the paddles? I’ve got everything installed and I’ve enabled the paddles in JScan, but the paddles aren’t working. Am I missing something?
