Hey everyone, I just bought my Gladiator Rubicon and already want to start the mods. Does anyone know if their is any 4” or 4.5” lift kits that let you use the stock Fox shocks? Any recommendations are appreciated

At that lift amount, you wouldn't want to retain the factory shocks purely just based on their fully extended length. Sure, you could run enough "shock extensions" so make factory shocks work at that lift amount, but you'd be stuck with factory amounts or less of suspension travel (mainly downtravel) since the shocks are what determines the amount of suspension travel on most lifts.

You'd want a set of longer shocks that are designed for that lift amount. Factory shocks are only good for 1.5-2.5 of lift, even with shock extensions.

With the highline fenders that come on the Rubicons, you don't need 4.5" of lift. I run 37's on a 2.5" Icon lift on my JTR and there is a ton of room still in the fender wells...

EDIT: I have wheeled this on some serious trails and yet to hit a full stuff or rub. Unless you are going to do some really aggressive trails, like Hammers, 4" would be a bit much for the 38's IMHO...

This was the day the lift was installed actually in the shop's parking lot:

I know this is rudimentary and someone will give me grief for oversimplifying this; but let's do the math:

Your vehicle came with 33's and you want to go to 38's. That's a 5 inch difference in the circumference, which means only 2.5" in the radius. So your tire will need 2.5 more inches of room between the axle and the fender...

for 4 inch and what you are asking staying at your stock fox is insane.
No offenes, could it be that you just don't understand how suspensions work?

For your stated lift you wanna go 1ton axles and 40s on Gladis to benefit.
Otherwise 2.5 is a sweetspot.
If all you want is to put on big tires, a body/spacer kit is cheap and fast.

Exactly.

If this rig is going to be any bit of a daily driver, 4-4.5" is probably going to be a challenge to drive, or at least not a lot of fun. You can still get to the top level of the mall parking lot on 38's...lol

Seriously though, if you go 4-4.5" of lift you also need to start looking at the steering setup too. First off, with that much lift you'll need to make sure to replace the stock trackbar with one that is longer and adjustable or it will kick your front axle way off towards the driver side of the vehicle (if it is not included in your lift). You'll also need longer lower control arms (if not included in your lift). With that much lift, the angle of your draglink from the pitman arm to the steering knuckle will be awful and will make the actual steering feel mushy/sloppy/etc.; so you'll probably need a draglink flip. You'll also need to look at the angle on your drive shafts because that will be so steep that you will need a different setup.

4" of lift sounds fun but there is more that needs to be done to have things back to stock-ish for the ride feel. 2.5" of lift is kind of the sweet spot where you can install the lift and not jeopardize the fucntions of the other systems too much.

In addition to all that, 37 and up really should be a regear as well... 37's really need 4.56-4.88, and the 38's will need 4.88-5.13.

With the tire and wheel size combo you're thinking about, I can guess that the only offroading that you plan to ever see is your front lawn (when washing the Jeep), the amount of flex you'll see in the parking lot at the mall will probably never compress the stock shocks to matter...

Based on your wheels size, i don't think you're planning to hits up many trails. You gonna needs tons of others supporting uogrades for it to drives decent.
