It looks like in the next few years we will be getting a Hurricane engine in the JT's with a huge HP jump.Possibly better MPG. By then most of us will have our JT fully modded. Question is will we be willing to spend the thousands and start over to get the new I-6 engine with the twin turbo. More HP and better MPG is great but the twin turbo will add some level of being more complex. The way things have changed in the last 3-4 years I don't want to think about what it will be then. But things are going to change the question is will we be changing with those changes. I probably will if the funds are there. New cars are my vice.

I’m thinking the JT will pretty much be the Last to get the I-6, after the Charger/Challenger, GC, Ram, and Wrangler. So we will have lots of time to let the bugs get worked out of the new setup. Nothing new is less complicated.

Nope. Keeping my 3.6 until it dies. I don’t rock crawl or tow so I don’t really need the extra torque. Not racing anyone so I don’t need the extra horsepower. I’ll swap the 3.6L when it dies with a 5.7L/6.4L purely for sound intoxicating reasons.

Nope. I have a feeling no manual with the hurricane, so I'm sticking with what I got.
Yeah I can see this almost being a certainty. Manual sales are already down to below 25% even for the Wrangler and there's no shortage of buyers if they only go automatic. The current MT isn't rated to hold the power and a better short-body 6MT isn't easy to come by.

I think you could make the argument that the i6 has a greater potential for reliability, and losing 2 vvt cams is significantly less complicated.

Torn. Mine is pretty much where i want it. Be curious to see what swaps are available when my v6 dies.
I can tell you I love inlines. Smooth and torque for days. Drove a 235 Stovebolt 6 daily, a 263 Fireball 8 daily, 3b Audi, and AAN Audi as daily drivers as well. All of them sounded amazing. Never did get that split manifold and dual carb set up for the 263.

An I-6 has 7 main bearings. A V-6 has 4.

Not interested. The Pentastar is fine with me, and will do what I need it to do. It's not worth the upheaval that buying new would give me, it's basically trading a 6 cylinder for a 6 cylinder with turbo. I'm very aware of the problems with smallish, turbocharged engines and I'll pass.

While it will probably get to the JL, JT lines, it will replace the V8 first. Ram 1500, cars and SUVs. Think of a Ram 1500 towing an 8K trailer up a grade with a 3L turbo V6 in 100+F temps.

I’m keeping this one forever. If/when the engine fails, maybe I’ll repower with one. New engines are cheaper than new Jeeps.

Absolutely. There is a reason I keep stock parts around. If it follows the reliability of the 2.0T it will be a great motor. Granted I don’t think it will appear in this version of the Gladiator.
