Jeep doesn't do subtle very well. Slowing down is sudden, but acceleration legs quite a bit. it gets a little annoying when you are continuing to slow down for a noticeable moment after switching lanes from behind a slow driver.
I love the ACC, and would get it again. I wish it had lane keeping like many Toyota's have.

@Deadeye has a different experience with his 2020 LE than I have with my 2021 JTRD. My Gladiator approaches the vehicle in front of me and slows down such that if I'm not paying attention to my speed, I will be traveling exactly the same speed as the vehicle in front of me, going much slower than I want. It gradually slows down and a 10 mph difference between the 2 vehicles isn't obvious except for the air and engine noise.

My JTRD has a lot of torque, so when I turn on my signal to pass, it accelerates rather quickly. I actually wish it would be more gentle on the acceleration when it doesn't see the vehicle in front of me.

I will say that if you live in an area where you plan on changing windshields, it's a lot more expensive to change one with an ACC one since it is different than standard and there's a chance the ACC has to be recalibrated when changing out the windshield. I'm getting mine done (again) on Friday and it's $670 for a new one.
I was thinking before the posts on this thread that with the folding front window and the Wrangler/Gladiator ACC is not mounted directly to the window like all the other vehicles with ACC, that changing out the windshield would not come with an increased cost due to having the ACC.

sounds like his glass company is taking advantage. There’s no calibration required unless the module gets bumped

I didn't get it simply because of the clunky big black box deal behind the mirror. I much prefer the clean look of the mirror only. I'm sure people love it, but since I've never had I don't miss it, and haven't once regretted not having it.

I’ve replaced two windshields. No recalibration needed. Each installer, on both occasions, said it’s pretty hard to screw up the ACC installing a flat windshield.

I never had it before, and was on the fence on if it was something I wanted or not. Ended up getting it, and I will never go back to not having ACC. Sure, there are some flaws - it is too lazy when accelerating, and sometimes is too sensitive when you change lanes, but it makes driving, especially in traffic much easier. I use it with towing as well, and it handles that nicely (I tend to bump up the distance to the max when towing just to be safe).

The county where I live traffic tickets are viewed as an income stream. I use it in town as well as on the highway. On longer 500 mile trips I’m not near as fatigued. Not as smart as son‘s Tesla but a good system and worth the money. Interesting to note that the negative comments about it seem to be from people that don’t have it on their Gladiator.

Didn't have it on my Sport with the 3.6, but with the diesel it definitely accelerates a lot faster than I would like... makes it seems like I either have my foot constantly on the gas or the brake when it's on.

I tend to only use it by myself so anyone else in the car doesn't think I'm a terrible driver :CWL:
It definitely will make your passenger sway back and forth

Absolutely. I come for a stripped of luxuries 07 JKU so when I ordered my JT, I wanted everything. I'm so glad I did. makes any kind of long distance driving a breeze. hell, I even use it on my commute to work. I think of it as not quite autonomous driving - you still need to steer but it does the rest.

Who has the Adaptive Cruise Control? How do you like it?
With the JT being my Daily Driver, I keep going back and forth on if I want to try and locate one with Adaptive Cruise Control.
I have driven my JT across the country and back from San Diego to Charleston and have Adaptive Cruise Control.

My impressions:

Ergonomics - I you are tall this thing will block most of your right-middle windshield view. The box it's in is huge and I'm not sure it needs to be looking at other vehicles with this feature. Shorter people may not have this problem as badly.

Function:
- On long road trips where you're traveling open interstate this feature is genius! It takes a bit of the fatigue out of you having to cancel/resume for traffic around you.
- If you are behind someone changing a lane and slowing down it will freak out and slow down with them instead of letting them go and focusing on the next vehicle in your lane ahead of you. Example: you are in the slow lane and someone uses the exit ramp...it's going to slow down with them even though they are on the exit ramp and you are in the slow lane. It doesn't do it gently - it's going to be a bit unsafe to me as the vehicle behind you isn't expecting this behavior from a human being. When it finally does focusing on the exit ramp vehicle it's going to accelerate aggressively to the next vehicle in front of you and then brake aggressively to keep the distance you set.
- Which brings me to the next point. It does not brake or accelerate gently. It's almost a binary system. Accelerate or brake behavior is fairly aggressive.
- I will not use it in stop and go traffic with all the people here in SD lane switching trying to gain half a second on their commute. It's how it behaves and the people around you tailgating that worries me.

If you do a lot of long distance open interstate type road trips it's worth it. Maybe you can find someone who has it or test drive it before you decide.

How hard is it to toggle ACC on and off? I feel like that's where most of my frustration is with the few systems I've used.

I have used adaptive cruise in some rentals and I enjoyed it and can see how it would be nice on crowded roads, however it’s on of a couple options I did not get on my gladiator, I am trying to keep sensors and such to a minimum personally because of the off roading I do and the damage I may take. Don’t want more expensive repairs. Same reason I did not option for the blind spot ext. however I got all the goodies on the wife’s Cherokee.
