So tried to install the AEV Diff skid and Cover today. The Factory sway bar doesn't play well with new friends.

It hits the skid and is real close to the cover.

Looks like I need spacers.

Metalcloak offers a spacer but I can't picture in my head if these are the right thing, there pictures are not very good. I think they are? But they use the verbage drop? But this should bolt to the axle tub and push it out apx an inch yes?

Yes they call them "drop" spacers but yes they move the swaybar out at an angle.

Did you call AEV? Their telephone customer service is pretty good.

Just throwing it out there but you do have the M220 rear axle correct?

Look at that Metal Cloak link at the bottom there is a post that the spacers WILL NOT work with stock exhaust., not sure of that, but those notes are why I did not get their FAD stabilizer relocation bracket. I have learned that you should always read the instructions before ordering.
As others have stated check with AEV before you do anything, they don't look real deep.

When I installed Metalcloak rear skid I had to use their spacers to clear my sway bar. This was before they offered as a kit for the Gladiator and after 4 1/2 years still working great

All gladiators have an M220 rear and M210 front.

The JL's come with different axles depending on the trim, lower trims have Dana 30 fronts.

The covers are not the problem, they look great!

Sway bar spacing and the skid plate is the issue.

Ya I reached out to them, waiting on a response. I'm trying to figure out if any one else has this set up and what they did. Think the spacers will solve the clearance to the diff and am hoping they solve the skid clearance also.

That's interesting? I'll have to go look, but how would that effect the stock exhaust?

Ok looking at it, I wonder if the spacers push the sway bar links to far aft and interfere with the exhaust tube.

Or

If the joints between the sway bar and the links is what's the issue? I have longer links from my lift kit. Wonder if it will all clear.

It's only $40 I'll order it and see.

That is weird. AEV is usually pretty good about all their stuff working together at the same time.

I had to go look and saw that disclaimer. Which is weird because I've had the MC rear diff skid with the drop spacers on for over two years and I still have the stock exhaust.

I had a similar experience with my rear diff skid setup - I used the metalcloak "drop" brackets OP referred to for the same reason, sway bar was going to contact. After installed the diff skid and the sway bar brackets, THEN I measured my links and ordered new ones that would get my resting sway bar position parallel to the ground. Ended up using some JK ones because they were cheaper and had the length I wanted.

Edit: Stock exhaust

Issue fixed!

Metal cloak was fast! Got the spacers today. Worked perfect.

I think the exhaust issue may be w a JL because there is a ton of room with the JT (I bet they cute and pasted the instructions from the JL).
