looks like bugger welds 3 pictures down....
Yes - and making that even worse, look how they cut the angle pieces so only the bottoms of the uprights are welded to the truck structure. A good load could rip that apart, IMO. They cut away the strong part of those angles.

But now you can pull one of these. Originally designed to be pulled by a Dodge Dakota or Ford Ranger. :like::whew:

That's a different animal at least. Light construction made for light trucks.
But then I'll have to look at the payload my father's Ranger had compared to the payload of an OVERLAND diesel JT.

I can just hear their excuses now - "oh, we took care of the payload problems with the air bags". I would bet anything they have no clue in that area.

At least the hitch is located over the springs so the frame won't bend in the middle?
Looking at the ends, left and right, how the angles are cut and welded to the truck's frame, I'm more concerned about their hitch job busting loose or where their blobs - sorry, I mean welds, are on the frame, the angle irons or steel angle stock they used isn't attached by that much material there. Sure, the length of the welds, but it's only an inch or so tall, good place to bend.

It's absolutely shit, but it will probably hold up to a goose only loaded up the listed towing capacity?

You wouldn't believe some of the home brewed goose hitches I've seen cobbled together that have worked for years! This is probably before there were 10 manufacturers building bolt on solutions?

I'm sure - but their instance has taken dumb to a whole new level, and the quality of the work (or lack of), I could point to a couple of points that really bug me as being total failure points.
A base diesel Overland has 1250 payload - that means with all that iron in the hitch and if it has any other options, it's well under that. I bet that hitch alone drops quite a few pounds off the payload. We don't know the real payload numbers of that truck before they started hacking away at it but bet it's not 1250 unless it's a bare-bones base Overland.
Towing is 6500 but that's stock. The wheels and tires will lower that, a lift will lower that.
So the payload is going to be well under factory due to the extra weight and so on, towing is going to be well under factory due to their mods.
And worse - based just on the pictures of how they installed it -
I'd not try towing 6500 on THEIR hitch installation.

I think I will stick with using my F250 for heavy pulling. I will pull my boat with my JT but I don't even want to think about my 5th wheel.

I am happy with my Gladiator and everything that i've done in the last 104,000 miles and 2.5+ years, but there's just some things you shouldn't do. And this is one of them! Not just a No! But Hell No!!!

Maybe they’ll make it a dually LOL
I mean, I don't hate the idea, from the cool factor, but you know if they produced them, most dummies would overdo it.

It's about money, clicks, monetization. You see stuff like this to get attention these days.
And Overland makes it even more of a joke. Just looking at it, it's a combination of stupid and dumb.
Overland has narrow axles - and they've stressed the heck out of things with those wheels to widen it.
I really hope they don't REALLY tow with that thing - and thankful it's not in Iowa.
You don't have to be smart to post a video or have a channel on YT. You just have to have a strong need for money and 15 minutes of fame.
"Just looking at it, it's a combination of stupid and dumb."

This is what my wife likely said when I approached her asking for that first date 30 years ago ....

Remember, if the women don't find you handsome, they should at least find you handy.
