One more thing. They have a pic showing a bracket to mount the load bars inside the canopy. Depending on the size of you load bars, you could store them in the bed
1589510822851.png
that bracket on the right, looks like one of the 3 cupboard brackets to hold the cupboard up; however, its flipped upside down in that photo. I've inquired with AVO, ok4wd AND Alu-Cab Africa about getting more of those mounts. Alu-Cab africa was first to respond, they said contact my local USA distributor, waiting....

Wanting to use 7 of these to make a nice 29"x5X" shelf to go across the front of the canopy.

Interesting. On the www.Alu.cab site they state that all the cupboards are carpeted. They also showed this interesting pic with this mounted on the back of the cupboard
Alu-Cab+Hardtop+Explorer+3+1031b+Ford+Ranger.jpg
i think the www.alu.cab site has different models/options than what's available in the USA, I would have thought the European cabinet would be the same as the USA one, but it appears the USA one lacks the carpeting.

Also i think some options/accessories just aren't available yet in the USA, or at least not advertised. If you can find sku/model number, might have some luck getting from your local lace or ok4wd.

I was able to fish the wire UP through that hole, reach in and grab it from where the tail light sits.

Don't break off this tab when pulling the light out.

Orange nubs go into the blue holes, so when you pull the light out, pull straight back. The red circles the tab you shouldn't bust off when you slowly pry the light to the side of the tailgate.

Pull down on the red lock circled by green. Then push down on the black tab and wiggle plugs out.

I used those blue taps to connect the brown wire with the black wire, and the blue wire to the green wire. Black wire had continuity with chassis ground, Green wire saw voltage when my wife stepped on the brake pedal. Good luck!

Is that type of "FISHING" legal in Wisconsin ? I've seen a video or two, many years ago, of Louisianan's up to their necks in muddy water grabbing for Catfish . . . is it similar ? Any "Style Points" awarded ? ;):like: .

Dude, awesome write up. Made the whole process take like 20 minutes total. Just letting some RTV dry overnight now.

Thank you!!!

Here's what the cabinet looks like with the side door rod "inside" the cabinet.
20200514_105530.jpg

Here is the view from the back, of the rear door gas strut next to the cabinet. Only like an inch of wasted space this way. This also gives, like 29 inches of space between the cabinet and the front of the canopy.

Steffen707 thanks for the tip on moving the cupboard to the end of the track. I moved mine forward so now I have even more space to lift my fridge door!

I have a few bolts and nuts left over if you need a couple let me know and I’ll send them to you.

Also I spoke to AVO about some drawers for our trucks and the size I wanted was priced much better than the ones I was trying to fit into my truck from Front Runner.
PM me for details if you’re interested.

P.S. @smlobx , if you're going to type my name, put an @ symbol in front of it. then I get a notification; however, I read every post on this thread so your bases are covered. =)

You also get a notification if I quote your post....and like you said you watch this thread like a hawk!
PS you should definitely template the carpet and have Eric or OK4WD sell them 4 you...

Some more shots of my homemade bedslide.. Local sheetmetal shop supplied the 1/8” aluminum sheet for the deck. Purpose of asymmetrical railing will be apparent in a few days.... I think one more cross bar will be added to these railings to make a separate forward compartment. May add solid aluminum side walls to make it a bin.

Very nice!
How are you going to attach it to the bed? I’m still thinking about that for myself.

@smlobx , The bolts for the front lower bed tie downs come just above the slide rails with enough room to keep the tie downs. Have to make some brackets to do this still. At the tailgate end either thru bolts or nut inserts into the bed. Hopefully get this worked out today.

Very cool! When you're done, can you estimate the cost of the materials?

Unfortunately it would be crazy expensive if you bought all the 80/20 brand new. I was fortunate enough to be in the right place to get a mess of it for free and I bought a bundle of it cheap on CL from a guy that had used it for frame work for solar panels on a house. Having a Bridgeport I could do all the machining myself for square cuts and fastener pockets. What amazed me was the as found stock was nearly to length for the JT! Only had a couple of inches of waste on each length. That sealed the deal on using it for this project.....
Although an optioned out steel Commercial bed slide starts looking like $2k and aluminum even more, new 80/20 and substituting some angle to reduce price might work out price wise. Even the Accuslide tracks are pricey enough that upon discovering I had two righthand slides I “converted” one into a leftie....
This will make you cough up your cereal..... I have about $200 bucks into this!!!
