Love my Max Tow, it's the best of both worlds for me. Rubicon stuff you want without all the creature comforts you don't really need. I said I was only doing tires on mine after I bought it and nothing over 35, well here it is on 37's with bumpers and lift. Lift came right after the tires, first 5 days. 5 months later front bumper and winch, 8 months later rear bumper, rubicon take offs. Guess what, it still driver better than any other jeep I ever in the Wrangler/Truck category. I absolutely love mine

I'm very satisfied with my Max Tow also. About the most I will ever tow with it is my travel trailer, just under 3,000 pounds.

Yesterday I bolted on these Rubicon take-off wheels & tires temporarily. I noticed virtually no difference in how it drive and gas mileage seemed minimally effected. They will be going back on after I get TPMS sensors installed.

I was thinking of a Rubicon suspension but instead I may just do a Tereflex 1.5" spacer kit in front with 75" spacers in back. I really have no complaint with how the stock suspension rides and handles.

Funny how the thread is about the Max tow stock, and people are adding new tires and lifts and calling it stock.

Yup I agree. I probably won’t change the suspension until the parts go bad or if my geographical location were to change to a more adventure accessible place like Colorado or Arizona.

And to be honest, I probably won’t even change the tire size once these factory ones go bad. I’m enjoying the factory ride too much to alter it this early on. I will get a more aggressive AT like Goodyear Duratrac or something though.

I think we just need a Max Tow Edition Club... you know, like the Mojaves. ?

Seriously though we should have our own post with changes made, effects on towing and weight with additional lift and added tire size. I know there is a tow thread, but would be better to have info just on these MTs.

Believe me I am fighting doing a lift and 37’s. Everything I have ever owned I have modified. I Just don’t want to loose the awesomeness the MT already has and I do tow, but usually no more than 5000lbs.

...The more I use it, the more I drive it, the more I love it.

The Max Tow is a special edition that is so overlooked and IMOP misunderstood. Out of all the JTs these Max Tow Jeep trucks are the ones that made the engineers really think hard on how to achieve what Jeep wanted. They had to test the Jeep Truck Max Tow to make sure it was what Jeep wanted the Gladiator to be. Jeep wanted a real pickup truck, not a wrangler with a bed. The Jeep brass knew that if they made that pseudo truck, the Gladiator would have been a joke. The competition would have raked it over the coals. Jeep wanted the Gladiator to best all other brands with the top payload and best towing in its class. The engineers had to do it with a fixed hood height and grill width too... you can’t change the look too much on an Icon. The Max Tow has to keep the approach angle that the wrangler and the other JTs had. They managed to pull it off! With bigger grill slots, bigger brakes, improved cooling system, wider heavier duty axles, 4:10 gears and an 8 speed automatic.

The Max Tow IS what gave us all the opportunity to buy a convertible Jeep Truck. The Max Tow is the benchmark Jeep set for their engineers when they created the Gladiator. A real mid sized truck best in class. The Rubicon has already been done with the wrangler, so it is no surprise that they would do the same treatment on the JT. No big deal to the masses if they released a Wrangler dressed as a truck, even with the Rubicon sticker. The Max Tow is what benchmarked the Gladiator as a real truck! When I role by the Yota, Chebby and Ford mid sized truck owners towing 6+ thousand pounds up a mountain at the speed limit. This just makes me feel good. I know their mid size trucks can’t do it! They certainly can’t do it with the top down!

The Max Tow IS the ultimate Jeep convertible pickup truck! Jeep really did an amazing job with it and I just don’t want to mess it up!
Well said - I greatly like your paragraphs above that I quoted. I researched thoroughly about which JT model/package to buy, and since I'm not an avid rock crawler (and I'm not convinced most Rubi drivers are either), the Max Tow is the best package.

I did switch to Rubicon wheels (from a Rubi upgrader) and a set of the Falkien MTs that I purchased from a tire dealer so I would get the warranty. And beyond a tonneau cover, the hardtop sunrider (working on getting a full soft top for summer joy), and running boards, it's staying stock except for some minor internal changes (seat covers, storage bin, door sill protectors, etc.).

I'm now even wavering if I really want to change the front bumper to a stubby model - the upgraded stock bumper actually looks really nice, and I'm not sure how adding weight to the front will affect the ride/feel.

My Gladiator appears to the spitting image of the OP's JT. Yeah, I love my Max Tow! It is indeed quite peppy. I want to do some overlanding, so I will eventually install a small lift and slightly bigger tires. I would also like to spring for bigger gears because I don't want to lose the peppy factor.

I just got my Nacho Max Tow Sport S in about a week ago and am loving it. I got the dealer to throw in the Mopar trailer brake controller and change out the rims, aside from steps (on their way now), not much else is going to change. I'm not a rock-crawler but do enjoy getting off the beaten path, my last Jeep was a 70's CJ7 so this is a different world for me. When it came time to upgrade my Dodge truck I knew this is what I wanted.

If I read the Jeep website correctly it doesn't look like they're offering the eco-diesel with the Max Tow package, is that correct? If so what the heck, seems like it would be an awesome pairing.

I heard that they couldn’t offer the Max Tow in diesel format because of the extra 500lbs of weight. The torque would be nice!

tough to beat clean stock look imo, i was too in love with my sport s to not do a 'stock plus' treatment to it so just sorted out the stance, sorting the stance came with the bigger shoes which led to 4.88's also, and being mine is manual i opened up the exhaust to better hear/feel shift points and increase the smiles per miles, otherwise subtle is the theme, upgraded some lighting and audio

stock plus is where it's at imo, subtle, conservative, positive offset - only sidewall pokes, stays cleaner longer, no skateboards allowed

I must say, after a few minor
things that I had the dealer sort out, (ESS check engine) its been super.
Have just 2500 miles, no mods, stock wheels, tonneau bed cover.

The mpg is a welcome change from my 2007 Grand Cherokee 3.7.
Getting a solid 19-20 in town and recent highway runs hit 24.1. Spring hit, panels came off. Enjoying it!!

I agree I like the Max tow the way it is, it rides nice and is somewhat peppy and I would not want to do anything to compromise that. I will probably get slightly larger tires when the originals wear out just mainly because I think it looks cooler. I like that the Max tow came with a more beefier tire than the stock sport s models, makes it a bit easier to resist changing out brand new tires.

Couldn’t agree more.

I’m so glad I went with Max Tow. I actually tow with mine so I did not want to do a big lift and lose that capability. Just added rubicon springs and 3/4 inch spacer to the front to get the 1.5 inch level. Left the Max Tow springs in the back—and put the rubicon shocks on front and back. I switch back and forth between 10 ply 33’s for towing and most daily driving and the 37’s for looks and mild trail riding. Handles the 37’s great—but you can really tell the difference when you go back to the smaller tires. Feels like I’m in a sports car!
