Just a question… because I see ‘Gumpton’ mentioned a lot here…
Why did you buy from them vs. in-state?

Mainly due to the price. you will get the below invoice there.
I see... but are the savings worth the transport fees, or time/expense to go there to pick up????

My initial reaction is it seems like the hassle to go there and pick up, or cost of transport, might not be worth if for someone living in NY...

It really depends on what you’re buying and what kind of deal you can source locally. But for example I picked up my Rubicon EcoDiesel from them this morning. The total price I paid Gupton ended up being about $8,086 less than the price on the window sticker and about $4,333 less than the FWP I calculated from the Order Guide. The best offer I’ve seen from a dealer in my state for a custom order was FWP + $500, so there was some money to be saved by me being willing and able to make the trip to Gupton.

It’s all in how you look at it- if you go on vacation to. VA you are going to spend some money. If you happen to pick up a new Jeep while you are there, did it cost any extra?

Didn't think of that. That totally makes sense.
I really should have thought of that... I actually did Volvo's European Car Delivery option a number of years ago.

I have a similar problem with my Jeep purchased from Koons on 5/19. Today is 8/13, and I am on my 4th set of temp plates with no registration in CT yet.
A department in CT not working smoothly?? That can't be! Millions on various websites that don't work?? But Lamont is a great guy. . . . . . . . .

Fellow NYer here. The last time I had issues with DMV a call to my State Senators office did the trick. A staffer there got me set and the vehicle DMV had previously refused to register was done.

Wow... didn't realize dealerships were even offering anything below sticker. Does that apply to special orders too? I wouldn't have minded popping for a plane ticket to TN and driving up with my Gobi JTM (gratuitous and obligatory mention of Gobi, as a Gobi owner of course)...

It was my first time purchasing one out of state. who knew it would cause this much headache.
It's your state, not theirs. I've bought several across state lines and never had any issues.
I'm guessing, but I doubt that dealers follow the laws of other states that closely.
That said, if they're advertising nationwide like this then perhaps they should.

I also saved $8k from a dealer which is only 150mile from me vs gupton which is 1200miles away and have to wait to be built.

Not worth the months of waiting in my opinion.

Geez... I just did the math... If I knew they were going that low back in June, I think I may have opted to buy from Gupton too.
A one-way ticket to Nashville is only $27 from NYC right now. For $8K off a $67K build, I'd fly down, and drive back over the course of a long-weekend... maybe enjoy a night in Nashville, then visit some friends in Cleveland...
Next time I buy another Jeep, I'll definitely consider Gupton. How did you NYers do it? Just over the phone?

yup. over the phone or email works depending on which salesperson you are dealing with. Where I live, it was extremely hard to find one that was even at MSRP. used JT sport with 10k miles OTD was 60 grand. I think I saved about $3000
