Anyone recently add the new single drawer decked system?

I am interested in this as a storage option but need to research rack systems that will help reclaim bed depth. Interested if anyone has gone the route or is considered the same.

I think what I’ve landed on was an XTR rack (60-80lbs or there about) a BAK Revolver 4xs which will fit under a 15” or taller rack, and the new decked. The T track on the 4xs lets you mount an XTR with the wider mount and runs the full length of the bed rather than just the internal length.

This shaves about 100lbs extra than cap and still have some protection with the cover back. It’s a few bolts to drop the rack and load the bed. Decked system will hold more than the payload available for me.

At minimum I’m starting with the new tonneau and then can add the rack and probably Decked last. I have a ton of Packout gear and most will fit well under the tonneau now, I just want a way of mounting ladders above and also converting to overlanding on the weekends.

Decked with a Smartcap would be the way to go IMO. My tonneau has saved my gear from multiple rain showers while camping. I wouldn’t be able to go without some type of coverage over the bed.

I would love to have the Smartcap and Decked but by the time I add both, it’s 400lbs. My total payload is 1160 and the first 160 is me on an empty stomach.

The tonneau I’m going with is under 100lbs and the rack will be well under 100lbs dry aa well and have a higher static/dynamic rating and more customization options. If the Decked makes sense after those I’d love to have it just for ease of storage under a secured tonneau.

The single drawer system is 200lbs - interesting that they advertise that it does not impact bed yet it does by 200lbs. It's a tradeoff like anything else. Need dependent for sure.

Also I confirmed that it's 200 lbs before the containers and everything. A few Plano Sportsmen bins weight 10-15 lbs at most. I just couldn't justify it even though I really, really, really want to and keep thinking about it.

I just wish the design of the Decked system didn't have so much wasted space.

I think this spring I'll be spending some time with a hole saw, jigsaw, and a couple sheets of plywood. Unless we get a Hiker trailer.

I think it will be dependent on what you expect to be loading into your bed over 800lbs since the extra 200 can make or break if loading up.

I like the idea of the storage for gear that is reasonably secure and out of general view for the activities I do. I am still hung up on the bed depth loss... until I can find a solution that I like it is still in the consideration/planning phase.

John, I bought the original two drawer Decked and had the same concerns as you regarding carry large items. I installed the Maximus 3 Sport bar for the side rails. As you can see they give me alot of sidewall height and tie down options. I plan to sell my Decked and get the new single Drawer system. I like all the new features and extra storage space.

Thanks for the post Mark! I was just watching a video on the install and some of the honest issues this guy ran into that needed to be fixed by decked. Seems there customer service is good to go.

I just purchased and installed the single drawer into my 2022 JTRD this week. I previously ran a standard tool box (a cheapo Craftsman aluminum box) but was never really happy with a) the capacity; and b) the disorganized pile of tools it always became. Plus getting access up and over the side of the vehicle was always challenging.
Anyway, I hemmed and hawed for months on buying the Decked. The cost was quite high, but in the end I realized I kept thinking about it and would probably continue to wish indefinitely--so I pulled the trigger. Here's my experience:

• Good News: They said 2-4 weeks delivery, but it came in 8 days after ordering.
• Bad News: The crate came in terrible shape. The crate/box was literally open, and the sides banged up pretty badly. One of the auxiliary cases (the six-pack) was cracked/chipped, the torsion bar was bent badly, lots of loose scattered hardware throughout the crate, some superficial damage to the drawer and supports, etc... In the end, I took delivery anyway, documented the problems, and contacted Decked.
• Bad News: Because of the damage and disorder of parts, it took me WAY longer to install than it should. Nearly five hours. The instructions aren't great, and the online Decked video instructions actually contradict the printed instructions in several places. If they spent less effort trying to be humorous throughout the instructions, and added more install photos and information, it would be much better. Fortunately, if you're semi-intelligent, you can work your way through it. My biggest problem was figuring out what hardware went where, plus straightening the torsion bar back out. Oh, and accessing and tightening the front hold-down turnbuckles is REALLY hard for someone with average-to-large hands; this was pretty challenging.
• Good News: I eventually got it all together, and it works great. I'm very pleased with the operation of the big single drawer and how rugged the whole thing is.
• Good News: Contacted Decked about the problems, sending the photos and a description of the situation. They didn't balk for a second, and are sending me replacement parts (notably, a new six-pack case). They were great to deal with. Highly recommend their customer support.
• Good/Bad News: I knew the unit was going to take up the complete bed, but it's actually kinda shocking to see just how big the thing is. I love the storage, but don't love losing the bed space. Anything you put on top of the decked system, unless it is firmly tied down, risks shifting forward under hard breaking and smashing the rear window of the truck. Bottom line is I'm going to buy or build some kind of headache bar and side rails to gain back more of an enclosed bed space. (Am open to suggestions, as my head is swimming with possibilities).
• Fun News: It's a lot of fun to re-organize and sort tools and figure out what goes where. Call me OCD, but this kind of activity is really enjoyable for me. Still figuring out what goes where, but that's half the fun.

You toughed it out... looking forward to seeing what rail system your go with. I am thinking if I decided on the decked system then maybe use the XTR1 with gull wing side panels.

One a side note I watched a youtube last night where a guy upgraded to the single drawer and had a RSI Smartcap installed.

I’m curious what mods were needed to fit the softopper? I already have both the softopper and the Dat Fab rack, and love the versatility. Getting ready to start using the Mojave for a work truck. I’m looking at swing cases, but they seem sooooo cheap

I dropped a swing case and it shattered. Buy the knock off or just get a bin. As for the softopper, it has bars that drop below the bedrail, so you have to cut out a chunk of the deck on both sides. If you want to go this route, the other 3 options for soft tops on the bed do not need this to be done.
