I keep mine hot always but I believe it's one's preference it's also been shown that the extra few seconds to cycle a round in the chamber has saved lives and accidents. In my opinion if you are not active at the range and very familiar with your piece a loaded firearm in the hands of a person that shoots very rarely might actually not be a good thing I have taken classes and taught classes on firearm safety same goes in your home at night more accidents are caused by a loaded firearm within arms lengths of a sleeping person then have the firearm across the room so you have that 30 seconds to read the situation. Either way looks like a nice mount just not 100% agree with the location
Richard ramirez and the golden state killer both say thanks for the firearm as their victims usually woke up to them standing next to the bed. Across the room might as well not exist.

Unless it's your son or daughter or wife that startles you in the middle of the night then your going to wish you'd had that extra 30 seconds for the rest of your life. You handle your situation your way I'll handle mine the realistic safe way

I feel like you'd hit the steering wheel.

I find these kinds of posts interesting, do you think you'll be in a situation where driving away isn't possible?
If you're wife's getting mugged at the ATM YOU could still drive away I guess? In the day and age of "peaceful protestors" blocking dusts and smashing windows you'd be a fool to be unable to think of a situation where you can't just "drive away"

If you are blocked, front, rear, and there is absolutely no way to move your vehicle (I.e. can’t drive away) then more than one person has coordinated an effort to make sure you can’t move and you having a firearm with you is just going to delay the inevitable end.

You’re not an action hero. Hollywood is Hollywood for a reason.

Also really weird that you’d just sit in a car far enough from the ATM that a mugger would think they’d have an opportunity but you do you.
Well I would hope if anyone is getting blocked on all 4 sides they would have made the decision to let that happen and fixed the situation before it got that far. And by the way it's amazing how much pull a well trained person with a firearm has in a situation similar to this

Great. Now I’m going to be freaked out next time I’m boxed in during bumper to bumper traffic. However, a 6” lift and 42’s might keep me moving. Probably not fast enough to get away from a deranged lunatic but it will be fun while it lasts.

More on this please
Google search result. I don't have any details.

But I'm confident that you could replicate it easily. Appears to just be some fists and a powder coated piece of metal spanning the width of the truck right up front.

I foogled the fists but thought this might have been your set up. It’s nice and out of the way.

Can't believe nobody has brought up CMM Offroad's universal accessory mount, paired with an alien gear shape shifter holster and mounts to the center console.
https://cmmoffroad.com/products/gladiator-jt-universal-accessory-mount

If you go to the product page and scroll down, plenty of reviews and pictures of it mounted.

I've got mine there, again, the only downside is, it is really close to the window switches...hit the switches, put the hands back up on the wheel.

My theory is if I'm in fear for my life I'm not going to be rolling the window down, it's one more barrier between me and the threat.
If I need to I'll put a round through the glass.
I totally agree, I was meaning getting caught off guard with the driver's window down. Or actually any of the windows rolled down.

I live and work in Houston, so.....your blatant and misinformed partisan bias notwithstanding, I think you're exaggerating.

but will it hold the weight of a firearm? Looks like it’s just four bolts in a plastic panel. Do you have one?

Yep, holds my Springfield Armory Hellcat Pro with an optic and fully loaded with 17 rounds just fine.
My knee rests against it a lot, I worried about that at first, but not any more.

Had to notch out a small piece of plastic for the sights to clear. Takes about a half second to push down on the frame and chamber a round before drawing the weapon from the mount ready for action. The only hindrance is remembering its there when exiting the vehicle as my right leg bumps the gun on exit if I’m not paying attention . I’m 6’2” so may not be a problem for shorter legs. Great mount and gun specific. Perfect for CCW size guns IMO.

Edit: For those that asked the brand is: At-The-Ready A browser search will land you on their website.
