The alarm and computers are always on, which causes a constant drain on the batteries. The 8.4 Uconnect and any remote functions increase the drain. If it is not driven enough to keep the batteries charged, that causes electrical system issues. The small battery and ESS get a lot of blame, but they are not the problem. The ESS not working does provide an indication that the electrical system needs some attention.

The only warranty that covers the batteries is the 3/36 factory warranty. After that it costs for them. Depending on the environment and how well they are kept charged (and the production batch quality), the battery lifespan is about three years.

Thanks Bill for the warranty info, i get batteries and drain can be complicated! I will certainly stop by my dealership before this next new battery fully crashes, again for #3... I don't use any alarms or uconnect, but I get the constant bleed issue. I didn't design the 70k rig that needs constant help. Yes, I have the tools to make it happen with trickle chargers, etc. I'm just saying, it's wrong. Cheers!

I’d never buy a mopar warranty. All manufacturers sell them for any Other make. Toyota has the best and it’s substantially cheaper and comes with free towing and $100 a night hotel if 150 miles away. I got my Sadinator at a Jeep dealer that owns a Toyota dealer that’s how I stumbled onto the price and coverage.
