Data Centers
It’s happening everywhere , electric generating companies have been bought from utilities after deregulation and assets are being spun off. A large generator in Pa . Just sold off the Data center next to a nuke plant to Amazon for huge profit to the firm, but then sold almost 700 Megawatt of that nuke plants power to Amazon for a fixed ten year term, that’s huge. I’m the electrical manager of a very large construction company with over ninety companies in four states , with all our quarries, various plants and factories we use about 32 Megawatts, across seven utilities I buy all the electric for the company, auction price for electric futures hit recently , we are expecting a big hit. What’s Amazon going to do with all the MW, perhaps sell electricity, maybe EV charging stations perfect just perfect!
Well at least one of our contracting divisions did the site work for the data center…..Jack
I work at a Data Center, those 700 MW will be for the data center. AI uses a lot of power. That is their max contract. It is also a "behind-the-meter" deal, where the nuke plant has some unused transformers onsite that they will hook direct to the DC. You should be more worried about this:

Imagine if they put this energy into actually trying to be the best at anything in suspension instead of being toxic and completely classless

I have no complaints with a Canadian company supporting a great made in USA company. Although teraflex has a few really nice kits for smaller things.

I don't understand your hatred of Metalcloak. That letter doesn't seem classless at all. Something we don't know here?

I guess maybe it can be considered classless because it's promoting yourself while your direct competitors struggle through no fault of their own?

the offroad community is pretty small as an industry and most everyone knows each other. Dancing on the graves of people you know and over-projecting ego is a lot of wasted energy and a bad look.

The solar industry has faced a lot of this the last 18 months. The day you catch me issuing a public letter like this, is the day ive lost the plot and should close up shop. Maybe im the weird one for believe winning should come via positivity and innovation though.

If anyone wants some zinc plated solar panels that are otherwise the same as cheaper ones though, hmu 😉

That can be read more than one way. Given that most people do not understand the underlying parent companies many aftermarket companies fall under, Metalcloak's statement could be just to reassure their customer base they are not in the same boat with the others.

Besides, what industry does not step on the bones of their competitors in tough times anyways?

Im interested in reading more about this and which brands are effected, but hearing that 4WP is going through hardship makes me very happy. Ive only had one experience with them and it was a nightmare. I had to return a part I bought online, and they offered a free return if I took it to the local store. Drove down there and went in, holy cow it was so incredibly toxic.

The manager was a total crazy wifebeater, openly cursing at and insulting his employees for basic questions, and then he told me to join him in his office to handle the return. He had me sit in a chair in front of his desk for like 5 minutes, just typing away on his computer, he fucking shushed me when I tried to talk, it was this whole "I masturbate to arguments in episodes of American Chopper and think I am intimidating you" act. Every toxic stereotype you can imagine - ed hardy clothes, big rings, yadda yadda.

Halfway through "processing" the return he stopped and spent 10 minutes taking sales orders on the phone. It was just very obviously trying to run out the clock, punish me or get me to give up on the return, manipulative rude behavior. Very few times in my life I have seen such unprofessional behavior from someone, especially someone in a leadership / management position.

Let em burn.

I see exactly where you're coming from on this. The last couple lines could have been omitted about increasing production but keep in mind this was addressed to their dealers who are likely to get burned by the bankruptcy on the other end and reassure them that Metalcloak can be relied on for inventory to keep their businesses moving where the 4WP brands may not be. It was ham fisted but I don't think there was malicious intent.

I'm a big fan of many of the brands under that Wheel Pros umbrella, so I wouldn't love bashing of them, and I've never been a Metal Cloak customer. Bashing on MC for that letter seems silly. It doesn't bash any other company. It gives some information, and reminds people who they are and what they're about.

I see no dancing on graves. I see them reassuring their customers, distributers, resellers, etc. that they are strong and not going anywhere.

We should be more upset with Wheel Pros here... but what do I know....

The current 42 4WP stores are being sold to ARB in partnership with ORW (Off Road Warehouse, which is owned by Greg Adler whose family started 4WP).

This is good for the industry, expect to see allot of ARB products to start being pushed in the US.

4WP is a big supporter for off-road use and is often the biggest sponsor/ raffle donator for West Coast off-road events.

The bankruptcy filing for WheelPros (Hoonigan) is Chapter 11. The company will continue to operate with court oversight on the restructure of the debt. The largest debt holder will assume majority ownership which will erase allot of the outstanding debt.

That explains why the Raleigh 4WP store reopened as an Off Road Warehouse location 6 months after the 4WP store closed. (doesn't help me with my worthless warranty though)

"There's a lot of disruption happening in our field, but we aren't affected and continue to support our products"

How is this classless? A lot of people didn't know about the consolidation of the market or what brands are affected. MC is clarifying where they stand as a company.

I don't get the hate for MC, I have two of their suspensions and both are fantastic. Their customer support was great when I had questions and the one minor problem I had with some missing hardware was resolved quickly by them sending parts overnight.

I'd absolutely do business with them again - I want to be clear that this is in no way a criticism of any other company.
