Just out of curiosity I was looking online at the auto stores to see what was available for a replacement battery for my ecodiesel gladiator and they all say there is no products available but they list a few for the gas. Has anyone replaced the batteries in the diesel? I thought the only difference was the diesel was a little bigger.

I ran into a similar issue with my Costco battery where they only listed one AGM battery for the gas engine. It turns out it was a better battery than the original Mopar battery anyway. The guy at Costco said they are both V6 engines so I would be good to go. So far so good.

Is that for the diesel? When I go on odyssey's website it says they don't offer anything for the diesel.

I thought they all had the same battery options. The 94R is the largest capacity that will fit the tray.

I think the diesel is bigger than the gas. That's what I have been trying to figure out. Whenever I do a search online they give options for the gas but say nothing available for the diesel.

I don’t have the gas but I do have a tape measure. Last month, both batteries came out, I measured the cavity space where the small main battery sat and picked up the largest Optima battery that would fit that space with only an inch space to spare on the long side. I also upgraded the aux battery. I decided to keep that system.
I went with the 80 amp DH7 yellow top Optima. I think it was darn near $700 cad. You get what you pay for. I’d not pay somebody’s bargain sale price on batteries if I’m expecting long life out of it.

The diesel is still 12v so if you get the largest sized 12v you can to fit the space, you’re way ahead of the Mopar batteries.

…adding to my curiosity, what is the output of the “diesel” main battery you have? What are the specs on the battery?

I'm not sure. I was hoping to find that info without disconnecting and taking the felt cover off to read the battery. So far I can't find anything online and build sheet and window sticker doesn't tell me. Maybe someone who has actually changed theirs knows. For all I know it's the same as the gas but seems like I heard it was bigger as in capacity not size.

Did you replace the auxiliary battery as well?

Yes I did. I also read tons of discussions on deleting it but I figured the issues we were having with the aux battery system rested squarely on the mopar aux battery, not on the system that was designed. So my battery purchases were done at Lordco and they carried two brands, AC Delco and this one. The one I chose is higher crank rated and the history of returns was lower than the AC Delco so it was a no brainer which one I put in.
