Do you know the part number to that new gasket? I´ll look and see if Amazon has it and I have the part for the belt, so I´ll look that up, too.

Be careful of 3rd party gaskets that are made differently. Might be cheaper, but I wonder how well they work.

A transmission is always one thing I want to do just one time, not twice because of a leak.

I was looking for the Mopar gasket....the new one. Otherwise, I´m just going to use the old one. Sometimes Amazon has Mopar parts at a decent price. Sometimes not.

I am guessing my original is fine. There is no seeping or anything.

There's a big difference between no leaking now and meaning it's ok to "re-use".
It might work fine - it might not. I don't know the odds - really, no one does. Youtubers aren't great to go by. They'll do the job, post the video, and are very unlikely to return a month later with an update.

Otherwise we'd be using valve cover gaskets, oil pan gaskets and others, over again.

You can take a risk and save the money,
You can re-use it if you want.
But "it's not leaking now" is not a reason.
Maybe saving money is.
It's your choice. It's not a cheap gasket by any means!

My choice is to do it one time and be sure I don't have to drop the pan again in 2 weeks.

Yeah. I´m hoping to get the new part. Supposedly it is improved. A buddy who is a service advisor at my local Jeep dealer just told me the original is re-usable and they use them again unless damaged. I´m still going to get the new one, though. He said he´d try and find out about why it was changed and will get me the part number.

Must be a different design - material changed?
still the aluminum core?

I wonder if it has anything to do with the transmission leaks the actual ZFs had in the 4xe Wranglers and Grand Cherokees?

One gasket I've been able to use over 2 or 3 times is the Felpro valve cover gaskets for the 2nd gen AMC V8s. But then - if there were to be a leak, it's 5 bolts and lift it off.
I guess the AMC differential cover - but that was a big square-cut o-ring on the model 20s. They did shrink with heat and age.

He said he thinks they are still aluminum but either have a coating or rubber wrapped completely around them.

I was happy to re-use the gaskets on the diff covers on my JL and JT. I always make a hell of a mess with RTV. I make a nice bead that doesn´t leak, but I also wind up with it all over me. LOL.

yeah, my hands often end up the color of RTV after work like that. I put on a really think skim layer - my fingers are better squeegees - which of course makes it to the palms of my hands, and whatever else I touch.

Either way, however you do it - wishes for success, no leaks, and no issues.
I don't want anyone to fail.

Thanks, man! When I get to it all, I will post up on progress and results.
