Hey, thanks for approving my membership!

I have a question about upgrading my tires. I recently bought a 2020 Gladiator Altitude that came with a 2” lift, but it’s still running the factory 18” rims with 255/70R18 tires. I’m looking to go slightly bigger to better fill out the wheel wells.

Has anyone here run larger tires on the stock rims with a 2” lift? What sizes have worked well without causing rubbing or needing additional mods?

275/70 18 or 33X10.5 are as large as I have gone with stock gears. Fairly sure your Gladiator has 3:73 gears. I found with this combination the Gladiator will not hold 8th gear while traveling in areas with any slight incline. In my area with constant changes in elevation my transmission was constantly shifting between 6,7 and 8th. This bugged me. I have since got a set of Rubicon axles with 4:10 gears. Much better now.
I used wheel spacers (item of many opinions) and had no rubbing or other problems.

I run a 2 Inch Iron Rock spacer-lift and Falken A/T4W 285/75R18 on stock Overland wheels. I also replaced the shocks with RC V2 front and rear. If using the stock bumper and air dam you may need to cut the wings off of the lower air dam - just follow the existing plastic lines with a Dremel and cutoff wheel. At some point I did a write up and posted, but can't find it at the moment.

welcome to the club!

i just added a 2" AEV spacer lift on my 2021 mojave, along with all the stuff that goes with it (i.e. geometry correction brackets, adjustable track bars, and a new steering stabilizer), and in the process went up in tires size as well. i went from 33" tires on 17" rims, to 35x12.5's on the same stock 17" rims. so far no issues so far.

i know my mojave may have a little different spacing than yours, but you should be fine with the lift. if/when you do change rims, be sure to pay attention to backspacing/offset. you should be able to find a few articles here on the forum, explaining.

Like others have said it's all about the gearing you have and I'm pretty sure yours is 373 gears unless someone has upgraded it and I personally wouldn't go about a 285 with that gear or you will be searching for gears while towing or on hills.

Not sure if this helps, but on the Mojaves I have both are on the stock rim and I run nitto 315/70/17's.

I tried to post an image and a link although for some reason I am not successful.

I’m running 285/75R18 Maxxis Razr on my 21 Overland with a Teraflex 1.5” leveling kit. No rubbing.

What does the tire width (285) have to do with gear ratio?

285/75 is going to be a 33×10.5 and that weight is about the limit that a 373 gear can handle, I have had as much as a 35x12.5x17 on that same gear and regretted it from the start

Before, I installed a 2in lift I had installed 33" tires on stock rims and have been running them for well over 55,000 miles. I could have fit 35" tires without rubbing likely. I have a Sport S with "Max-Tow" package. I don't think I want that hit (35" + tires) when towing.
Where you are and what you are doing with it makes a difference.

Me- '21 Rubi Gladiator with 4.10 gears & manual tranny to start with:
What is your gear ratio? In the last 6 months I have run -
1) Mopar lift on 35's
2) Mopar lift on 37''s
3) Travel elevations for 2000'asl to 8K elev
4) swap 4.10 gears for 5.38's
5) 4.5" Lift on 37's
6) 4.5" lift on 40's
The above was all done by design to test the Gladiator's capabilities. I live at 4K+. I love the new gears. 4.10's at 2K were great. 4.10's at 4k+ turned my tranny into a 4 speed unless going downhill with a tailwind.

Pic is with 37's.
