Is it necessary to remove the bumper to install the oracle lights?
Nope, like they said. And just remove a tail light (easy, 2 screws) to plug in their plug'n'play harness.
It's a pretty quick install.
This is what you see behind the tail light. The white wires are part of the Oracle harness if you go that route.
It all just plugs into the stock factory wiring this way. No splicing, no cutting, no taps unless you choose that method.

I just wired a bypass with a relay so that when the reverse lights come on, the license plate lights turn off. Makes a world of difference for about $15 in parts.

Yes, I still need to do a write up on it.

Another forum member was selling these pre-made, but I can't remember who..

I installed a set of these, in September of 2019, before any of the other options were available. Back then, they were only $145.

I can’t see a thing in the backup cam when backing up in the dark.

Even if I turn off the headlights to decrease the glare from the license plate lights, I still can’t see.

Are there any recommendations for brighter bulbs to cast a little (lot) more light?
Mine are too bright... stock Rubicon LEDs.

Maybe because I have no ambient light... i live back in the woods you see... 100 miles from nearest big city....a little glare from the license plate lights but still really good.

I wired mine in so they come on in reverse, and also to one of the auxiliary switches so I can run them any time I want, even with the truck off and in park. (that's why you don't see the factory tail and backup lights on in this pic)
They come on with the factory reverse lights, or when I use an aux switch to turn them on.

I've had these in two JTs now and would do it again.

This picture was taken about mid-morning with the morning sun shining in that east window and the garage lights on. What you see is the white shadow cast by the Oracle backup lights in my JT's bumper sitting about 20 feet in front of the car.

the oracle taillights themselves are much brighter then the stock lights. if you need even brighter there is the bumper lights.

I drove a JK with no rear bumper for two years up and down California, no issues
Their reflector laws are pretty strict. Likely they wouldn't care unless there was an accident.
Jeep uses bumper mounted reflectors because they are cheap-ass on their lights and don't design reflectors in the lenses themselves like most other cars and trucks.

Nice Eagle!!!
Thanks. I've sort of retired it from the national show circuit and now just show locally with no expectations and not trying really hard. Getting some age on the paint now and can't compete with fresh restorations.

I joke that the backup lights are so strong they are going to fade that red paint into pink.
