First failed attempt. Lost power so figured I would see how the fitment for the lens was.... But supports were a pain to remove.

Yeah, I think it may be the way the lens sticks out, a flush mount might look better, but that would probably leave little room for the supporting structure for the hole per light.

I think you're right... I can't make them any more flush because of the roundness of the tail light... There is no flat spot anywhere lol.

I do have a different style 2 inch light... I'll redesign tonight and have a new one ready in the morning.... I think the new 2 inch lights will look a lot better.

Like the three light but with the way they stick out, reminds me of a stop light. Just gotta see how they look on a JT though

I agree with Jay, looks like a stop light. I was picturing them with more of a flush mount. Guess it depends on what's available and fits in the housing though.

Lol you're absolutely right... Now I can't unsee that. Makes me want to put a green yellow red in for the lights lol

With the other lights I should be able to get them to where the lens meets the body of what's there now... Because there won't be a lens....

So it will be a little more flush. About a half inch more flush.

I think I'm going to make a complete scratch built tail light soon.

What about setting the light at 20 degrees (give or take) from the tailgate surface. Then maybe you could get it set more flush.

Most LEDs are very directional. By angling them away from the direction you want them to go, they become a lot dimmer and a lot less noticable......

Coming from over 15 years in the school bus industry I know all about the angularity issues of LEDs. The better ones have a broader range.
It might not be enough to make a difference, or it maybe even look funky.
I was just spit balling ways to get those 3 lights a little more flush.

It's going to be a little while before any newer versions come out. I have to at least get some money back before working another design. Otherwise I'll be stuck in a never ending design phase and everyone won't buy any tail lights because they will be waiting to see what the next set looks like. Just being honest. This is a fun hobby that I will never make a living at. But I at least need to make something back from it. That being said, eventually another version will come.
I am in for this current design if you can get the proximity sensor integration worked out.
