Building my own flush tail lights

I drove into work today behind a Bronco. If the tail lights have a side light it must be tiny to pass DOT. All I saw on the LED version was just the rear rectangle lit up. I know pictures online show a red section on the side but it didn't lit up when I was on the side/behind it.

I would have to take mine off but I wonder if the tail light body has to go so far back (toward the front) on our truck.

I’m interested in this design too, I prefer it simple. It would be sweet to see the lit up gladiator on this version as well.

It’s crazy to see how much time, money, and effort you are putting into making these tail lights.

Figured I would share my progress, and would love criticism, likes, ideas, other style lights, let me have it all......

Keep in mind this is still in prototype stage. Still have to add side markers. Make a finer 3d printed housing. Current housing is ruff draft quality for fast print times .​

The broncos have very little side light... There's so many aftermarket options for broncos with sequential.... Don't know why no one cares about the gladiator.....

I think I can put the lit up gladiator in it.....

The problem with the lit up gladiator that I didn't think about is dirt and mud getting into it......

Like them....hell yeah. I'm a simple guys and the OG design is very serviceable

I think the issue here is that they've already put R&D into the wrangler, and adding the gladiator Tails is more R&D than it's worth, given the Wrangler tail light sales numbers. That's the only reason i can think of.

I have to imagine the Bronco also has a separate wire for the turn signal. It is amber and is in the clear portion of the tail light, different from the running and brake red lights. I am wonder if it also benefits from some type of creativity with part of the red lens that can be seen from the side.
