The Trail Rail setup utilizes an endcap with an integral "L" bracket (circled in blue below) that provides attachment to the bed orthogonally relative to the attachments along the length of the rail. It's probably not a necessary attachment point anyway, but noted that your system doesn't utilize that rear attachment - did you determine that it's not critically load bearing and on that basis not utilize this in your rail system? Thanks.

I am working on a DIY solution and wondered why this end "L" bracket is there as well. I cannot imagine that it is in any way load bearing since it is plastic, but then again I am a software engineer, not a mechanical one.

I was thinking that maybe it is there to prevent debris from getting lodged between the end of the rail and the bed, or possibly as a bump stop for the cleat.

Those look stout! Would they have quick release knobs instead of the bolt so you could move them around easily? Bike fork mount would be nice along with hi lift mount.
edges will wear out whatever you hook through them... assuming you will round these off...

Until BRI comes up with a cargo tie down solution for these rails, here's the solution I came up with. EVERYTHING is made in USA. Eye bolts have 1,300 lb capacity (something else would break first). The 2" square washers are stainless steel (i will get around to painting them). The locking washer is a key piece to lock everything into the strut channel nut. Bolt is 3/8".

I'll add a photo of this installed on the rail soon. Let me know if you want purchasing details.

Awesome. Super similar to mine. I used a little different style of square washer. Will have pics soon.

Gotta be the only post on this entire forum using the word, "orthogonally" - clever way to make your post unique so you can easily search for it and find it

This is what I am using for mine.

The red knob will be used for a quick reposition mount that I am working on.

I am also putting some UHMW polyethylene tape on the inside of the runner so that it will not scratch up the rail.

....also, I skipped that attachment point. It’s not substantially load bearing, if at all, if the other fasteners are torqued properly. And how strong could a plastic bracket be in partial bend and shear if it did need to bear load. Makes me wonder why it’s even there...my guess, some engineer will get a bonus for proposing to remove it as a cost save.

I added a polyethylene pad to the inside of the runner so as not to mar the strut. Hopefully i can install the rails tomorrow.

Just received my trail rails and front panel this week, so about ~5 weeks from order to shipment maybe a hair longer. Waiting on a 4xrac and some other parts before I start bolting everything up. Denver and the surrounding mountains just got dumped on so it'll be a spell before I get to wrench on it. The hangar queen ('88 Wagoneer) is taking up too much space in my unheated garage!
