I wish the Sport could be fitted with those nice looking dark saddle leather seats

Love that color. Glad they are bringing it back. My gladiator will be a hydro blue. But in the sport.

I also think that Jeep thinks that everyone is made of money, especially after they made the astounding statement that they would make it intentionally expensive. Perhaps a good reason to boycott them for 6 months and just let these trucks just sit on lots unsold. Punish them for making such a statement.
Simma it don now ya here.:cwl:

Lets just wait til the prices drop before we call for the ugly B word.

Remember the Marchionne who said that years ago, everything is different now. He also said there would only be 2 trim levels of the JT as well and we already see that this is wrong. We need to wait and see what they do but I think everything has changed now
I agree with this 100%. If they where still going the intentionally expensive route there would be no Sport and most likely no Sport S.

I'm hoping that the optimists here are right (or at least close), but Jeep's recent track record of pricing the JL leads me to believe otherwise (they made 3-4 separate price increases mid year on the JL), and Marchionne, contrary to what some believe, made the famous "expensive, intentionally so" comment less than a year ago, at the '18 Detroit auto show, and at the end of the JT's development. Things can change, and maybe with greater production they can find more money in volume, but if they're sticking to their sales goals of fewer than 100k per year, if they don't price these significantly higher than the JL the market will, meaning dealers will reap the higher profits that an in-demand vehicle will command. One way or another, these will be costing more than the JLs. This might lead the average (and reasonable) buyer to turn away, but they honestly think they don't need him. They'll sell 100k without really trying.
My hope is the business plan has changed, and they're looking to actually "mass" produce these at the same rate as the JL. A Jeep in every driveway that wants one, I say. But a painful fact is that they are selling JLs that sticker for more than $60k already (and also under $40k as well).

So they plan on selling fewer than 100k but brought out 4 different models to choose from? Can you see where that kind of logic falls apart?

They realized what they could bring to the mid size truck market and changed direction.

These are very good points. Im still hoping the price difference between a JLU and a JT is no more than the price difference between a JL and JLU which is 3500 dollars.

Yup. I see your logic 100%. I just have a hard time believing that they could change direction that drastically in less than a year. Car companies take years, if not decades bringing new products to market (look at the Bronco), and for FCA to have a paradigm shift of this magnitude would be amazing, to say the least. Plus, development and production of the JT simply costs extra money over the JL. That money needs to be recouped. I'm not convinced they can do it with volume. And, I worry the Sport/S will just be token models to show they have "accessible" JTs (which I still believe will be nearing the $40k range). Once the chassis is developed, making different trims isn't all that hard, especially considering all of these components are straight from the JL. No added cost in development/implementation there.

For the record, I am absolutely hoping for the JT to be inline with the JL, because that will make my decision a no-brainer: for the same money, would I rather have a few feet of enclosed cabin and a ton (literally) less towing capacity with a more unwieldy hard-top, or an identical cabin from the rear seats forward (plus some cool storage) with 20 square feet of open bed, 7600+lbs of towing and a reinforced chassis and suspension? Yeah, I'll take the JT thank you.

I'm expecting exactly that: $3500 at the Sport level, $4000 Sport S, $4500 Overland(Sahara) and $5000 Rubicon. This keeps the lower trim levels more accessible (which I think will be at a lower take rate), and maximizes profits on the higher (and higher take rate) trims. Of course, I want a Rubi, so this sucks for me, but the JL is a great consolation prize...
