Not to belabor the point but the writing is on the wall. They already took the diesel out of the Grand Cherokee, Wrangler and Ram 1500. The Gladiator was last to receive it and last to lose it. Get ‘em while you can. But again, my dealer told me it’s too late….they’re done.
Seems like maybe the Grand Cherokee lost the diesel, but the 2023 Wrangler and Ram 1500 still have the EcoDiesel available.

Most of us frequent both sides of the discussion. I keep a keen interest on the diesel side of things having owned them in the past. It's just unfortunate when a genuine discussion turns into "diesel best, gas worst" and the topic gets lost, but it happens a lot. And it happens in the 3.6 gas section too.
I agree with you, my friend.

I love my diesel, and even if it’s short lived I’m glad I got one. But I love it because it gave me what I wanted from this truck. Being happy with my 3.0 doesn’t mean the 3.6 isn’t a great platform that’s racked up hundreds of millions of miles for millions of very satisfied Jeep drivers. No need to hate one to prove your love for the other.

Then again, I’m a former Bronco owner from back in the day, so maybe I can’t be trusted ?

Until you sit down at your dealer to order one, that is.
The web site configurators lag behind Stellantis press releases and/or internal dealer notifications. Again, my dealer GM specifically told me they received notification from Stellantis HQ that they could no longer accept or process diesel engine options. So get one if you want, while you can, Just passing along what I believe is accurate info. Who knows…..maybe it’s all bs.??

Gotta admit that stellantis is focusing on 3.0 enhancements in the platform it makes the most sense to be in.. (dodge ram btw)

OH...I guess one can only go with the info at hand. But either way we already have ours, a JLURD and a JTRD.

Ya I'm surprised at how many people rely on website configurators for information. Those things are built by web development teams with the information they had that time and aren't often updated.

Yep. Take for example the roughly $1500 price differential between building my Gladiator online and placing the identical order at the dealer. He said they’re getting price increases on a weekly basis.

You’re not getting 20mpg? I get close to 26 on the highway on longer trips and 20 around town. Sometimes it drops a bit in the city stop and go. Hand calculated I’m within a mile of the display mpg. Mine definitely clatters and groans.
Same here, and I'm at about 6,000 feet of elevation, and mine is still breaking in, although I haven't hand-calculated it yet to see how accurate the computer is. I'm loving this diesel a lot, no regrets.

I have been wondering if this was going to be a thing. About half of our dodge trucks (government rig) are 'broke' because fuel pumps have gone bad. 2015-2019 MY though... But there's only like 5 in the nation apparently, and tens of thousands of gov. rigs across the nation, still being paid for mind you, are sitting unused because of fuel pump issues...

Even a couple of our Chevy trucks have the same issue. Along with problems with their eval canisters. Thinking they must share the same pump somehow... Maybe a similar pump to the diesel?

it's crazy, and has me kinda on edge of the Gladiator pump - although I dont think there's been any gassers with consistent problems.
The diesel trucks have definitely had more problems. Overheating, leaking axles, transmission problems, and now the screwed up pump. Seems they need to go back to the drawing board. If you look back, Jeep made a 2.0 e torque for like a year in the wrangler JL, and it was full of flaws. I personally had purchased one for my wife and we had to get rid of it, it had gremlins in it.

It does make sense that it would slowly fade away. All things do. The EV market is expanding, and that makes sense.

I absolutely love the diesel. I've put 78k miles down with the 3.0 and all of them have been trouble-free. No additives or anything. Maintaining proper maintenance schedules as best as I can. Rotating tires every 3k.

I'm still averaging 19mpg in mine with 40's and stock gears. On 37's I could see 21-22 pretty easily. I'm sure we all have different paths and experiences, I'm just sharing mine.

Love this thing. I'd buy a third :)

Seems someone was misinformed. My 23 JTRD is scheduled for production...

You are correct. I followed up with the Sales Manager at my dealer because a friend was asking about the diesel. Sure enough, Sales Manager said he was misinformed by Jeep. As of yesterday, the statement from their regional sales rep is that they are extending diesel option availability to November 2023. Of course, that too is subject to change!...
