As title ask. I just bought a 2022 overland diesel gladiator. I know I need a delete and exhaust pipe. Do I need a tazer to? Will it work on my truck and 2015 grand Cherokee eco diesel?
Thanks in advance

It depends on what you want to do. Do you need a Tazer no. Do you want a Tazer is a different question. I would suggest reviewing what a tazer does and then deciding if you want it. Yes the tazer will work on both vehicles but not the same model of tazer. You will need two different tazers to use one for each vehicle.

Grand Cherokee Tazer

Gladiator Tazers

You would need to review the descriptions and then decide for yourself if you need/want it or watch some videos on what it does.

A delete will require a complete tune.

As mentioned, do you NEED a Tazer, no. Do you WANT a Tazer...in my experience absolutely.

I had a Tazer, sold it. Every function I realistically need can be programmed in Jscan for a fraction of the cost. Just depends on priorities.

Do you need a Tazer for PCM tuning, no.

And here comes the Tazer Vs Jscan debate.
LOL. I'm out as I really don't care enough.
But honest question to you BlueScapeGoat, because I don't know the answer. Does the Jscan allow you to do cool down mode while driving? That's over of the main functions I use for Tazer while towing.

I'm not debating, it just depends on what you want. JScan doesn't have any live functions, it's a programmer. Make adjustments, remove it. So unless that's something you program with the Tazer and not a live function, no.

If you utilize the live functions of the Tazer, then it's up to you if it's worth it. The Jscan doesn't do that.
If you just adjust tire size, gear ratios, and turn BCM modules on and off then the Tazer is an overpriced piece of hardware.

Go ahead and read the Tazer JL Mini instructions here:

https://cdn.shopify.com/s/files/1/0664/6857/7446/files/TazerJLMiniUserGuide1145.pdf

If you only get 3-4 pages in before getting bewildered and throwing up your hands, then this product is not for you. TBH it's not easy to use, the instructions are famously arcane, and most likely when you need to use one of the functions in a hurry you will not remember what the special button combo is.

If that sounds OK, then notice how many of the functions spell out "not diesel" or "not 4XE" or "not 392." I have a diesel, I have a Tazer, and in my experience a bunch of the functions don't work on the diesel (ones that don't say "not diesel" but do say "not 4XE" for instance). Why, I couldn't tell you - just that sometimes I try and it doesn't work. Sometimes I try and it does. If you put (for instance) the front camera app in the quick dock on the main screen - stock, it disables itself and turns gray over like 5-10mph. Tazer is supposed to make it active at any speed - instead what I get is the icon flashes gray/white several times a second, as (presumably) the stock programming disables it, Tazer reacts and overrides it active, then the stock program disables again, on and on forever. Maybe Z Auto never really tested a diesel, IDK.

To me this is not good design and doesn't give me confidence that it will work when I need it. If you just want to set tire size and axle gearing, stick to Jscan IMHO. If you need the extra functions Tazer provides, then just be ready for some learning curve and frustration.

If you're getting a full delete and tune, I might follow the vendor's advice as they might have their own requirements.

If you have no immediate need for any of these things, then do nothing. Certainly don't buy a Tazer just because you heard somewhere it was cool

As a Tazer user, I completely agree with all you said. They just do weird shit sometimes, and they aren’t a cheap gizmo. All that being said, I really am glad I have one. I use the live functions on my diesel frequently. Agreed also on the dumb instructions and diesel exclusions, but I haven’t found even those to be limiting to me. Good points though. They definitely aren’t a set it and forget it. I’d say compared to most I’ve read about, I haven’t had that many issues. I’m also pretty good about updating the device pretty frequently.

Doesn't work on gas engines UNLESS THE ENGINE IS NOT RUNNING. Straight from the Tazer manual.

One LIVE function JSCAN doesn't support is license plate blanking in reverse. You CAN make a wire harness to do this, but JSCAN cannot do this. And THAT is extremely useful if you drive at night. Maybe not so much if you live in a big WELL LIT city, but most anywhere the lighting isn't daylight bright, this feature IS helpful.
