My dog had explosive diarrhea in the back of my X5M during the summer. The stealer did a crappy job at it. I took it to my detail guy and he steam cleaned the entire back seat and under it. Got it back to factory after the steam and Adams leather treatment.

Like @Texbaz said, start with mild soap and water.
Personally, I use Sprayway glass cleaner on EVERYTHING. It cleans up oil residue but is gentle enough to wash your face with. Also, the best glass cleaner I have found, yes have used it on my leather seats (and face).
Soft bristled brush, old toothbrush etc. but don't scrub too hard! You can fray the stitching and stretch the leather.
The sooner you get it cleaned the better.
As far as seat covers, I have had a few and currently am very happy with www.teamK9.com. They have a vented section so your rear hvac gets to the dogs. Looks like they are on sale now too.

(I have German Shorthairs)

This morning I had to take my dogs to the groomer and sure enough, the puppy pooped in the backseat during the 5 minute drive, and sat in it.

Needless to say, it is mashed into the leather seats, the grooves and even the passenger side seat belt reciever. It's awful.

For the time being, I removed the entire back seat, if only to spare my nose from the godawful smell. But the reason for this post: how should I go about cleaning it? I have an overland with leather seats, so I'm sure just blasting them with the hose is a bad idea. Or should I just call it a loss and burn them? Lol.

I know, I should have put a blanket down, but I've never had this issue before and it's too late to do anything about it now.

Thanks in advance!
Chemical Guys sell a GREAT Leather Seat Cleaner and Protection Kit. It has worked very well on my Wife's Leather Seats. https://www.chemicalguys.com/search?q=leather+seat+kits&options[prefix]=last

We used a Bissell Green Machine portable steam/vacuum - they also have cleaners specifically for ah, you know, dog stuff. Good luck! next; buy a dog seat protector hammock!

Just leave it. Kinda a badge of honor. I carry 4 dogs with me. The 2 big ones in the back (on a hammock) and the little ones are certifiable "missiles" in the cab.

Don't use water use leather cleaner , start with a damp microfiber cloth to remove the bulk of the mess
