Build.... The two most accessorized vehicles in the country and maybe the world are HD Motorcycles followed by Jeeps. Designed parts save time.
Building is the art of putting parts together in such a way to achieve desired level of performance not available in current form. Replacing parts to keep something running is not a build, that is maintenance.
Many time these parts need some level of massaging to work correctly, the simple buy and bolt in on comes with some level of thought/understanding to either make it work correctly or to get all the right parts to achieve the performance desired.
Great case in point, the Question, "can I run 40 inch tires on my Stock Rig?." Yep you can buy and bolt on, performance achieved? Not likely. Still need suspension, gearing, axle upgrades, brakes, shocks etc. All of which can be bolt on and will the end result be great? depends on the parts selected.
Then you have shops that take a pile of DOM and build a race truck, they still use bolt on parts, does that disqualify them as a build?
Then there is Johnny Shadetree that brings a the proverbial $2K SB to the party welded with coat hanger wire.... Still a build yes?
