Second, I'm starting to tow a 16 ft enclosed trailer loaded with a house full of stuff from Seattle to SoCal starting tomorrow in my totally stock 2020 Gladiator Rubicon automatic. My understanding is that it can tow 7,000 lbs.
The ticket (IF I understand it right) shows my truck weighing in at 6420 lbs ("Axle 1") - does that sound right?
I had 2 dogs weighing maybe 75 lbs total in it and an almost full tank of gas. No mods other than a small brush bar on factory steel bumper w/2 KC lights, and a rubber bed mat. It's possible I was standing on the scale at the time the weight was recorded. My nephew was inside the station asking it to be weighed. So I don't know exactly when the attendant "pushed the button."
Third, the ticket shows the trailer weighing 5280 lbs ("Axle 2"). It's a brand new trailer and mfg said it weighed 2200 lbs unloaded. So that's 3,080 lbs of stuff inside - sounds about right.
Total of the ticket indicates 11,700.
I'm confused because a Google search of "What does a 2020 Gladiator Rubicon weigh?" Answers 5,050 lbs. Gas, 75 lbs of dogs, a tank of gas, a rubber bed mat and a simple brush bar/lights doesnt add up to 1,370 lbs even if I was standing on the scale. I weigh 235 lbs.
Frankly, there are all sorts of weight numbers thrown around on the internet for a Gladiator. I know they're not all talking about a JTR but I think I'm fine for this haul though it is 1187 miles.
