First thing you gotta do is bigger tires - why? Because you are going on the tough trails? No, because the Jeep people SAY SO. You are a soccer mom or mall crawler or not a real Jeep person if you don't take off those stock tires on day one and go up 3 increments. The bigger the tire - apparently the bigger something else or the tougher the guy is!
You definitely don't want to meet up with a guy who has 37" tires on his Jeep - he's gonna be able to break your back just by looking at you.
That's going to piss some folks off - but that's just how things look out there.
What's the first mod I should do? BIGGER TIRES AND A LIFT! Why? Well, just because. Even if you live in Belmond Iowa where the ground is so flat field tile doesn't even drain and you can see for miles.

Just reporting what I observe over time. Psychologist says I'm excellent at pattern recognition and puzzle solving - and I see a pattern for sure.

Help me make a decision - which trim level should I get? Guarantee the answer is most likely Rubicon or Mojave.
What should my first mods be? Bigger tires! A lift! Why? There' s no trails in this whole state! Not even close - so why?
Same happens in the Tacoma forum. Everyone wants Icon shocks and bigger tires.
For me, we went bigger tires (33") because my wife didn't like hearing the belly scrape.

social mediocre is partially to blame. People post to get likes. Some, if not many, will post what people want to hear or see just to achieve a positive feedback. fakebook is all about likes, even this forum people often judge you based on the "reaction score". I was bashed multiple times because my "score" wasn't as high as or higher than my post count. I frankly don't give a shit.

Even in this forum to some extent the Rubicon people are often looking at other trims as "not worthy". I mean look at the "what should I get" or "help me decide" posts - it's all about Rubicon or Mojave. Anything else isn't even Jeep - open your mind and check those responses - be HONEST about it. It's definitely a club mentality out there.

It's the nature of most humans in one way or another to be competitive. Having the biggest shop or toolbox, snap-on or harbor freight, who's Harley is faster or with the best paint job and the most chrome. Cummins, Power Stroke or an Eeek-o-diesel. Farmall, John Deere, Ford. Colt or a clone.

Folks sometimes have a tough time deciding on which "in-crowd" they want to be part of, generally stimming from lack of research and the inability to make a decision without looking back.

I have always thought buying something and pretending it is something else is pathetic. I know a guy who buys fake sunglasses and nikes and thinks he is literally the shit. I just think its sad. Its sad to want to be looked at period but for fake stuff, its even sadder.
What about the guy who buys a Ferrari and puts in Fiat badges :)

Its funny you bring this up. I feel strange some times being stock on my rubicon (you know using what a payed for, lol). I have seen like one on stock sport tires. and less than a 3rd of all rubicon/mojavi are on their stock. The bigger the tire the more clean and never left the pavement the truck looks. lol

35s look good. mostly talking the ones over 37, especially the ones on 40s I see. Cleanest truck ever of all the time.

My rubicon sadly hasn't much either, just can't really find anywhere to go close, and need to make a trip out of it.

Jeep estimates about 80% of buyers switch tires and rims is what I was told. If they wouldn't purposefully give you rims that don't work with bigger sizes I'd have kept the stock rims but the bigger tires just make off road much easier with more ground clearance and easier to just roll over stuff.

Also just because it's clean doesn't mean you don't ever get it dirty. I detail it after every off road trip, no reason to drive around looking nasty. My wife actually gives me shit all the time because on my previous trucks I pretty much never washed them, but this one which gets significantly muddier I'm even shining up the undercarriage.

Damn never realized it was that high, Ford was smart with the sasquatch package. not much else though given all the problems.

I gave up keeping my clean about two days into ownership. a simple puddle in the road was enough to just paint the side of it in dirt. Those front tires really know how to fling up some crap.

The real brilliance of the SAS package is that they add front and rear lockers. Tires and rims are easy swaps so honestly the cheaper they go with the lower MSRP the better. If jeep offered a no tires and wheel package for a 2K discount it would be the most popular option.

Whats funny about the way i clean is regular road grime, i dont bother, but once I go off road i spend the next day(s) scrubbing it up and making it cleaner than new. I think its cause i figure if i'm already cleaning it, i might as well do a good job.

It really is, allowing that on any trim is such a good idea. Honestly ford must have searched formums like this for all the complaints against jeeps and come up with a solution for them.

No tires or better factory options to that same thought would sell like crazy. like the stupidity of not being able to order the mopar lift from the factory.

Honestly just factory delete options would be good, no carpet would be amazing. No front bumper, so many of those get trashed. How about those stupid bolts they put on the doors, -$3 lol. I have so much stuff I removed.

I am sitting here cracking up at the thought of somebody buying a "new car" that looks like it was taking to a chop shop having a giant smile on their face knowing they got exactly what they wanted. lol

Also good point to the cleaning. I do tend to bust out the pressure washer after a camping trip where we screw around in the JT in sandy soil.

Hopefully Jeep will be doing that at the new facility they bought in Toledo.

Whats really funny is that once you add the sasquatch you basically are in a comparable rubicon price range so its really more of an "on paper" one upmanship. There are a few exceptions but really it would be more like if jeep just changed the rubicon from a "trim" to a package and kept the same cost so you could say you had an overland with the rubicon package or whatever. Its still really just a rubicon but it sounds like a better deal :D

Thats right, the cost goes up like crazy the lower the trim you are.
