That is how my 2021 behaves. If I remember correctly (maybe I don't), the setting in the head unit turns off the fender DRLs but not the halos in the headlights.
http://jscan.net/drl-day-time-running-lights-configuration-settings/I have a jscan I'll look into that. Thanks.
I am so sick of people that do not turn their lights on at dusk, in the rain, or in poor lighting conditions and as a result their jalopies are hard to see when passing, pulling out somewhere or in general driving down the road.
So did mine…That is how my 2021 behaves.
Halos in headlights are always on, fender DRLs can be turned off in the settings.
My fender DRLs turned themselves off somehow a few months ago. Went into settings, they were turned off.
Anyone here remember the MOPAR trailer brake controller? How they sold a trailer brake controller that took way over a year to finally actually release - the instructions stated you must add a wiring harness if your truck didn't have the factory trailer tow package, how they showed the controller oriented one direction but it came the other direction - wait for it - the fun part - how if you pressed the button to manually apply trailer brakes it set the check engine light, disabled stability control, traction control and other features of the truck until you shut down and restarted? If they are not supposed to be able to be turned off, the option to turn them off should be removed from settings.
If the option is there, it should work.
I know the sarcasm is actually deep here - but on a serious note I gotta say the third brake light is another mandatory item I really like. Countless times I've come across a vehicle that for one reason or another, BOTH regular brake lights didn't work anymore and the only reason I caught someone slowing down suddenly in front of me was the third brake light happened to still work.I'm designing an acrylic piece that will take the place of the front fender flare lights - it will be called a light delete kit. You'll be able to fully remove all lighting from the front fender flares.
The tail gate light is annoying and some have had issues with it not working, I think a cool textured colored panel to replace that would be great, too. That stupid cable between the box and the tailgate for that dumb light is subject to rodent chewing anyway, time to get rid of it.
That "third brake light" is one of the dumbest things anyone has ever come up with and it's just something to wash around or get caught on stuff when using your truck as a truck. I don't want to have to buy another if it gets busted, just delete it.
Never mind that most states now require headlights when you use wipers. Now ideally you actually turn your lights on to burn the rears but you are in a sense covered by the DRLs.REAL experts have proven in scientific studies - they work. If they didn't, there'd be no money spent on the development, no effort put into them. It matters.
And around here the number of f'n idiots that don't use headlights at dusk, or when it's really cloudy is just crazy.
It's to protect people from themselves and each other - no matter how much a person hates such things.
Credit to jeep, they actually designed the third brake light to mount on the tailgate instead of the back of the cap in part so that a bed topper wouldn't obscure it and require a more costly solution to relocate (and it help make the soft-top simpler).I know the sarcasm is actually deep here - but on a serious note I gotta say the third brake light is another mandatory item I really like. Handy little bugger...
Where are the pictures with the switch in different positions and the parking brake engaged?I'll post a picture of both DRL and without the DRL on later on when it gets darker. It's not the yellow marker lights.
I don’t have a problem with how it works. I like the LED halos and I like DRLs.I'm willing to bet that's what the option is for. But if you don't get the LED package, which I don't think OP has, then you don't have the halos and the setting being discussed does nothing.
Think about it. If you have halos and fender lights, then it makes sense to be able to turn off the fender lights as the halos can act as the DRL. But without the halos, which only come with the LED headlights, then you need to have the fenders on as they're the only option for DRLs.
This isn't a problem. This is how it's designed. No duh the setting on the radio doesn't do anything, it's not a LED equipped truck!
My JT doesn't have the factory LED package, and turning off the DRLs via the radio does indeed turn off the DRLs!I'm willing to bet that's what the option is for.
