I agree with you and will switch to paint in a couple months after my wife doesnt freak. She freaks every time I start to mod anything on our 8 week-old jeep.
LOL - sorry, gotta laugh. My wife just asked me "so do you have all of the stuff put back on the new truck yet?"

I would not call it stupid but just more work. It would need to be made out of copper flat bar material since you would be basically making a bus bar that also would need to be insulated coated. Using steel or other metal is not the best electical conductor for vehical electronics.
I use brass. I've done that for the ground in my terminal block in my JT, and for the connections on the terminal strip I rigged for my plating equipment.
Yeah, insulated is a good idea of course.

This one is not insulated, but it's under cover and I have liquid tape I plan on using on it eventually. (insulate it and give a more finished look)

Ran the 37s for a week or so before installing the Falcon Nexus EF 2.2 steering stabilizer today. Noticeable difference, ran on medium setting for a quick 25 mile trip. Happy with this one. Will probably wait to put 500 miles or so on the stock 4.11's before doing a regear. In the Central Texas area I'm in, lots of variety of roads, some flat some hilly. The 4.11's seem fine in flat areas, but any interstate driving has already made it clear to me that a regear will be done in the future.

Took the plunge and replaced the knee dash speakers. I was pretty intimated with taking the dash apart, but after seeing some YouTube videos and posts from other members here, I did it. While the "patient was open", I installed the bed outlet kit while I had the dash apart.

I went with Alpine 6.5" two way speakers (R-S65.2) and Metra enclosures (includes harness adapter).

I trimmed off the inner mounting tabs on the enclosure, as it can accomodate smaller speakers. Then I lined it with sound damping material and poly fill.

Here's the old speaker next to a new one.

The Metra adapter was quite long, so I trimmed and soldered them to the terminals.

Taking the dash apart wasn't too bad. There were just lots of screws. Some videos said to remove the radio and loosen the passenger side airbag cover, but I didn't have to. It was good that it was warm and sunny, as it made the plastic more pliable and less brittle.

Here is one assembled enclosure next to the stock one.

A nice feature of the Alpine speakers is the ability to tilt the tweeter up instead of straight, as the speakers are tilted slightly downward.

As other members and videos state, the passenger side was much easier and required much less disassembly.

Replaced the driver side panel with the new one with outlet switch.

Sound is MUCH better. Balances well with the Alpine soundbar speaker kit I installed earlier.

Once done with the speakers, I finished up the bed outlet. Used a utility knife to cut out the bedliner covered plug.

Installed outlet, plugged in jumper harness from underneath, and activated with tazer.

Took about about 4 hours (with lunch break). Buying all parts ahead of time, prepping, and studying videos really helped.

Thanks to other posters/members for the outlet kit parts list.

Hell of a lot more ambitious than I am at the moment. I am way too intimidated to try that level of disassemble-foolery...

Haha. I felt the same way for a long time, but it wasn't really that bad. The speaker replacement was actually much less painful on my fingers than replacing the jumper harness for the bed outlet.

Just lots of screws to take the dash apart. I did have a screw and clip left over.

I have no idea where they belong. Strangely, now I have the death wobble, steering pulls to the right, engine makes ticking sound, fuel economy is worse, auto start/stop won't work, etc. Haha!

And that is why I am getting someone to do my lift for me next week.

I'm afraid I might have a rear window leak after installing my new door handle. Good thing we are in the middle of a drought.

I always figured if you worked on enough of anything, you could gather up all the left over parts after a few years and build your own of whatever it was you worked on all of those years.
Some day I'll build another car.

Finished up (for now) the bed power. I'm not totally happy with the jumper wiring between each of the pieces. The crap wire you buy at the parts stores (if you even find one that carries any decent wiring at all) is so stiff, and they don't have anything but thin wire with thick stiff insulation........ so one day I'll get some larger gauge silicone wire and redo the wires behind the panel, but for now it works fine. These aren't high power devices for the 17 bucks anyway. I bet the switch they supply can't handle much at all.

I wired it to an aux switch so I don't have power going clear back there until I want it, and so that some day I can piggy-back off this and add some other bed lighting.

I did have some 16 gauge silicone wire on hand for my restoration work on auto components, that helped some, then I ran out of open barrel terminals - rats!

I have not yet tried the USB charging but the 12v outlet works.
