For us laymen, what will this upgrade do?

It would give us the ability to run a spin on metal fuel filter which is easier to change with less mess and can be prefilled with diesel to help with dry starts to the HPFP. New filter also costs around 1/3 less than current filter. Weak plastic filter housing is replaced with aluminum which is much more robust.

Interested in this, looking at the pictures in the online parts catalogue it looks like on the Ram filter housing the lines come out 90 degrees to the mounting studs and the Jeep version has the lines opposite the mounting studs and appear to be raised up a bit higher. I'm sure something could be fabricated to make it work. If you take the leap do post pictures.

Whoever get this first, please let us know the mounting height compared to stock unit. That connector hanging low though.

If one can have it mounted sideway for additional clearance, will it effect fuel/water separation performance, or just doesn't function as intended having it sideway at all?

Diesel floats on water. Water has to fall to the bottom of a separator for it to work and be drained.

My concern with the aftermarket replacement filters are the size appears to be so much bigger and could require relocation to a safer location.

Done! The Black Market cap fits perfectly while shortening the overall body of the filter housing due to the relocation of the bleeder screw. I had another fuel filter housing that I was able to dry fit everything and make sure all of the seals engaged properly. I’ll add that you need to be careful not to cross thread or you’ll have a mess on you garage floor. On another completely unrelated note , anyone know how to get the fuel line retainer clips? Someone should be fired over their design
