GDE tune rewrites completely.
Derringer takes the input, raises a Lil, then outputs.

1. Would these 2 be able to work together? Maybe with the Derringer not maxed out to keep power levels "safe"?

2. As for GDE tuner, couldn't they design the tune to still write with it if u already have the security bypass dongle, like for jscan?

Forgive me if either question was covered. 14 pages alot to read lol

Personally, I would prefer GDE over Banks, tho Banks gaining popularity here. When I trade in for diesel, will probably do Derringer to start since no footprint. Then after xx000 miles, may switch to GDE. But that's all fantasy land for now till I trade up.
Somebody correct me if I'm wrong, but in theory you could stack the Derringer on top of the GDE tune (or any ECU tune).

However, my personal opinion is that I'd never use a Derringer on any diesel engine. The Bosch CP4 has a horrible reputation. They routinely blow up on the stock fuel pressure. Dialing that fuel pressure up an additional 4,000 PSI is just begging for a $10k fuel injection system repair.

GDE tune will be released within 3 weeks!
Nice! Any specs on the tune and parameters around getting it done? MRTuning just announced that you will no longer need to send your ECM in to get it done even if you buy an extra (to swap between tuned ECM and stock ECM) as was the case before. Now you can buy a tuned ECM and just have it sent to you. It would be nice if GDE was doing something similar to avoid the time you are without a vehicle.

Not yet, but I'm sure it will surface in the coming days.

I would be surprised if GDE didn't take the same approach as MRTuning. GDE and MRTuning talk, so it would be hard to believe that GDE wouldn't offer a tuned ECM as well.

That would be good. I wonder what changed on the backend (what road block cleared)? Prior you HAD to send in your ECM to be cloned even if you bought a backup. Now that he is able to just make one and ship off gives me a smidge of hope that maybe they cracked the lock on them or something.

I'm not sure what changed. GDE also said they may offer a flash tool in the future for the 2020+ EcoDiesel, which is what I have for my 2015.

I talked with GDE just last week. He said his tune will have more torque than what is specked for factory axles. I have to much warranty left to go breaking something that will no long be covered.

Interesting info, not sure what that exactly means if the M220 is rated for 8200nm aka 6048 ft/lbs.

"The gearing used in today's Dana 44™ axles has a 226 mm ring gear size and has a torque capacity of 8200Nm. The new generation Dana 44™ AdvanTEK® gearing has a smaller 220mm ring gear size but has the same torque capacity of 8200Nm."

So stock the EcoD put put 440ft/lbs a GDE tune what maybe 550 ft/lb if we are lucky? Not sure where the multiplier is that take 440 to 6048 though.

Here's what GDE said,

"The axles are fine on the Ram. The Jeep has limits on the axles. We could derate the tune on the Jeeps if customer wants. They could also control that with the foot/pedal.

Our competitor tunes overspeed the turbo, exceed cylinder pressure guidelines and exceed axle limits. Be careful what you buy, there are long term ramifications."

***Edit*** Since you are chatting with them, we still need more details than this. Would you be able to ask GDE to provide what the specific “limits” are he’s speaking of, and provide them. I'm only asking because GDE seems to contradict what Jeep states they can handle. It could be he's doing the wizard math we don't know that might make sense.

This is fantastic news. Not sure what your affiliation is with GDE but congrats to them (and you if applicable). It feels like the wait has been forever but I know they are extremely thorough with their R&D and testing.

If you're referring to me, I have zero affiliation. Just like you, I know they are extremely thorough with their R&D, have excellent customer service, and put out a great product. And just as important, they are 49 state legal.

Beware of competitors who "Exceed axle limits" with their tunes and wreck your vehicle. Oh by the way our tune (GDE) will have more torque than what is specked for your axles but ours is safe because you can just control that with your foot.
