I've often debated turning my fogs on with my headlights, just to show everyone that it isn't my high-beams that are on, just the regular headlights. But then I realized that apparently the majority of people don't even know about the high-beams/fog light thing.

Plus, it's kind of counterproductive for me to turn the fogs on too, adding even more light to their field of vision and possibly making it worse.

I generally give a quick flash back at them if they flash me to let them know that they aren't my highs. But it's usually just returned with a full-on/stay-on high beam response, or a light bar or other additional lights lol
IF your foglights are correct and aimed correctly, they do nothing to other drivers.
Fog lights are for fog, for seeing only a few feet out and more to the side and should never be in the eyes of another driver.
If they are, you have shit for fog lights ar they are aimed totally wrong.
Fog lights only show the road directly ahead - and are only good for speeds less than highway speed. If you believe they help at higher speeds or while on the highway and let you see enough at that speed - they ain't fog lights or they are way out of whack aim-wise.

I completely agree, that is 100% how it works. That's why I have debated just turning them on to let everyone else know that my high-beams are also not on. Seems like no matter what, people will be childish and try to blind me back anyway lol

I have the factory LED lights, and I've been flashed maybe 4 or 5 times over the last 1.5 years. Even with properly aimed factory LEDs, some people are just sensitive to the LED light output and find it annoying, so they'll flash you.

With that said, some factory LEDs are better than others. The JT LEDs are pretty good, but I've noticed that they don't have a really sharp cutoff, which could account for some people being offended by the lights. We also have a 2017 CX-5 and 2022 CX-5, both with the factory bi-LED adaptive headlights, and they have a really nice beam pattern & cutoff. Never been flashed in either of those vehicles.

I have the factory LEDs on a Rubicon. I've rarely been flashed in the past year, but after any suspension/weight changes I always check my beam aim. I don't know about the accuracy of "any" change to headlights being illegal, anytime I've upgraded to LEDs, like on my Wrangler I've made sure to use DOT-certified heads and fogs. So many lights thrown on as "fogs" aren't legally or even technically fog lights. On my lifted Wrangler I get flashed less after my LED upgrade because I can point them precisely and there's less "bleed" aka glare than halogens. It's the one place I'll pay a bit of premium to get that DOT stamp.

If you load your bed, change your suspension or replace headlights you need to reaim your lights. Especially with these soft, rear coil suspensions. I also live in Montana where many of the other vehicles are full-size heavy duty trucks with headlights bigger than a dinner plate, so maybe they just don't notice me ?‍♂

Just last night, I had someone do that to me, and my halogens were on low beam.
It caught me off guard, So I flashed back to show mine were on low

If the cutoff line is too sharp it can be a problem in hill country where you cannot see anything at all ahead as you go down a hill until you start rising up the next hill. A dimming line would be better.

Enjoy reading when people with non-factory lights - meaning the added lights, so-called "driving lights", fog lights and other lights talk about "being flashed".
What's expected when deviating from what's legal and highway approved?

Even swapping bulbs in headlights is a deviation no matter how much you argue that "they are better" or just fine. If a locality wants to fine you for your lights - they can - because technically, any change to the equipped headlights is against federal regs.

There are good ones out there - I get that and agree - but seeing people say "I get flashed" and then read "bar, fogs, driving lights" and so on - DUH.
That's the sort I wish it was legal to shoot out their lights LOL

As a side note - these are seldom correct from the factory. Then you go messing with suspension and they are less correct. Go swapping bulbs - all bets are off because you've messed with the very design and intent.

I used to get flashed a lot while towing - the air bags took care of that. I can keep the truck's rear at near curb height now keeping the headlight aim more correct.
They are seldom correct from the factory? Are you sure about that, and if so, what are you basing this on?

I'd think most of them are correct from the factory.

The only time I have adjusted headlights on any vehicle is when I have lifted it.

It seems to me that now days, 99% of the time they flash you within 50 feet of passing you as if to say "F" you for having bright lights!! I get it ALL the time and my lights are nearly pointed directly at the road in front of me. I have after market LED's but they don't project a beam out very far. I just keep my hand on the trigger and blast them back as they pass. People are just ass holes any more. Even had a Wrangler light bar me the other day.
wow…I only lightbar someone if they are a total ass and like cut me off making me slam on the brakes to avoid smashing into them. I never lightbar an oncoming car.

Are the headlights on these JT's that bright? I get flashed all the time when my lights are on dim. They are adjusted correctly so I just flash them back to let them know that they can get even brighter.
I get it too an mine is stock height. Considering that most of societies Fruit of the Looms are in a bumch

I keep ours stock and use only (MoPar) factory replacement parts when it is serviced. Steel front bumper, off road lights and everything on the front except the winch is OEM (MoPar). Ours is a Rubicon with auto dimming headlights and the Auto is always on. Still we get flashed, but then we also get flashed in our Volvo which also has LED's so perhaps it's that.... In California, it is a violation of the CVC to not have off road lights covered when traveling on a highway.

Well I guess I'm not the only one. Starting to think it's just the way these headlights are and oncoming traffic thinks they are bright so we are always getting flashed.
