Holy heck yes!! Reversed hinge to open that half door. Nicely done Skip!
I have a suggestion for your Jeep parts fund. When I’m ‘done’ the exterior (that eventually happens, right?) I’d pay for a drawing like that. ?

I get old man wood every time I see this thing. I’d buy it in a heartbeat. What say you?

Im telling you, it’s coming. As Ford builds its Bronco platform to compete it will force their had for a piece of that pie.

I thought throwing away good money for bad was reserved for the execs at GM? I love the idea, but can't see FCA spending a ton of money on re-tooling etc for such a small return.

I would agree but we could say the same about the 392 JL, the Hellcat Challenger , Superbee Charger and SRT Grand Cherokee. Platform is there so with metal Stamping cab back, interior and top, might be feasible using JL components. Just my opinion. I have beers with these guys. Their favorite response is “Anything’s Possible”

Anyone over 5'2" would not fit in there, legs would be too long & you can't move the seat back.
It's a nice dream, but only that - a dream.

It would be temping and have some advantages. But I deleted the 60% seat with a Goose Gear kit. It offers huge secure storage and I can still haul 3 people. For me a bench seat up front is a non-starter. Everything is a trade off.

I guess I’m just old school (dated) Back then we didn’t care about space in our trucks. That’s what a station wagons with rear facing back seat and clam shell doors were for. Not to mention faux wood paneling on the side. When they come out with the two door I’ll change my name to Nostradamus and ya’ll can be Doubting Thomas. K?

The gladiator still has the problem of departure angle. They should actually bring back the LJ and add some kind of removable bulkhead and top enclosure for the front seats.

Two door versions of other trucks, like F-150s and Silverados, are pretty abysmal in sales. Even extended cab variants are garbage outside fleet vehicle sales. The reason is simple: most who have ever owned a 2-door truck will never go back after owning a 4-door. Heck, even the Wrangler is almost 90% 4-doors these days.

Looks cool, but after a while I think almost everyone would want to go back to the 4-door.
Most of my trucks have been 2 door standard cab. Then I got the Silverado with extended cab and a back seat (used most of the time for not people, but was handy now and then with family)
I'll never go back to a straight 2 door truck.

Think of all the stuff you have in your truck today and fit it into that cab......... no under-seat storage, everything, including the kids, goes into the back. It's fine for one person who can toss their stuff into the right seat, but otherwise, these days, way too limited. You just don't see standard cab/2 door trucks on the road these days.

I admit the target audience would be small, but for me an extended version would be perfect. Always happy to have your 2¢ in a thread @ShadowsPapa being we are from the same time period.?

I guess I wonder why you couldn't just have one of these shops shown in this thread do the JKU/JLU conversion for you? That seems to be the best way to go. I'm sure they'd "take your money" and make you the 2-door you desire.

I wouldn't count out Jeep. Jeep has taken many bold steps in the last 5 years. Not only did they resurrect the Grand Wagoneer, but they also came out with a diesel-powered Wrangler and Gladiator. 5 years ago, people would have said, "FCA will never come out with a Jeep truck with a diesel engine". And look where we are today. It wouldn't cost Jeep very much money to come out with a regular cab Gladiator.
