In my opinion that job is unacceptable and you should definitely not be satisfied. Sorry for your situation and I hope you are able to get it sorted out.

My 2020 Gobi jlr just had warranty paint work done, I had bubbling paint on the hood and all four door hinges.

they removed and painted the hood and all four doors. They also replaced all of the hinges.

The hinges are all misaligned so I did not take the jeep back. I know pictures don’t always represent the real colors but this is what I see in real life

they said they painted all of the doors, but on the rear doors, it looks like it blends to the old paint where it matches. Am I losing my mind?

It’s a shade off. That would drive me nuts. I hope they correct it for you. I had paint issues on a Silverado I owned in the past. I just got rid of it because I figured whoever fixes it would be at the cheapest body shop they could find.

That looks terrible. Most people wouldn't notice but then again most people don't point out poorly matched paint and speculate as to the type of accident the car was involved in like I do.

Definitely not right. Could be fade or the paint variance could be wrong. Either way I would not accept this as an appropriate job.

I have paint mismatch issues from corrosion repair on both my gator JT and white JL. It's not very noticeable on the white JL and the gator is not as bad as the OP's gobi. They did the 2 hinges on the JT first. When I picked it up I noticed the paint mismatch and after arguing with the shop manager about it, they agreed to repaint them. They had also reused the chewed up original door hinge bolts and agreed to paint new bolts that I would provide.

I brought it back for the repaint, but all they did was paint the bolts and didn't repaint the hinges. The manager said he talked to PPG (the paint company)and was told that's as good as it gets. I did get the original hinges back and am going try do remediate the corrosion on them myself so I can reuse them.

I saw it in the body shop today, they scuffed and are painting the entire side of the jeep, fenders, hood, doors, body. they said they will not need to paint the bed becuase they will fade the area behind the door to the bed. we will see. the service manager said they will also paint the window frame and hood cowel, but the body guy didn't think that was necessary. i will talk with the service manager tomorrow.

i'll fight till its right, the body shop said it will be ready friday or monday. that seems quick

Don't know how i would feel about them painting the whole side of the truck. Yes it will likely matches afterward, but with potentially bad prepping along the edges will lead to paint peeling. Over sprays, tape lines, easily rock chips. The miss match might shows up a few years later.

I used to do body works in my early 20s and still as a hobby. NO respray adhere like factory paint. I highly doubt they stripped the door down to aluminum, but more likely sanded down the bubbling, filler primer, sand, primer then paint.

Wish it will works out for you ??

Body Shops have a paint matching "Gun" Where they point it at the paint and get the paint codes. They can scan the doors vs another section of the Jeep to see if they match. If they do not you will then have proof the paint doesn't match and have an argument to have the whole truck repainted.

Tell them that's BS. It will take just as much time to blend as it would to just paint the bed. Tell them to stop half assing it and make it right!

It's terrible. You absolutely did the right thing leaving it there until satisfied.

They should also be removing the door handles and any other trim pieces, if not you end up with a tape edge that will lift off in the future.

You’re not losing your mind. It doesn’t match. It’s not easy to get tough colors to match though. The warranty may require them to repaint the entire exterior to get this fixed. It’ll be a fight, but it’s one I’d definitely not let go personally.

final update... it took three times, but they got it done!

The second time they did the work, the paint matched great... on the entire tub, doors, fenders, windsheild and cowel pieces... but they did not paint the hood. I just got it back from them doing the hood again and made it right.
