A few months out from getting my approval for concealed carry permit and need some secure storage options. Wont be able to take my gun into the job so the pistol will be locked up in Jeep til I'm out of shift so willing to dish the extra money for a secure solution.

Appreciate any suggestions!

And before anyone asks, NY does not recognize the glovebox as a suitable location

I put in a Tuffy lock box that bolts in beneath the rear, drivers side seat. It's reasonably roomy with inside dimentions of 12 1\2 ' long x 6" wide (narrows towards the door to about 5" ) x 4" deep. The bolts are inside so it's reasonably secure and roomy enough for any concealable handgun and your holster and a few magazines besides. the only drawback I see is that I wish it had a fast combination or fingerprint reader instead of just a key lock. I also had to put in a rubber pad. I used a cut up piece of a 1/4" thick "yoga mat" that I bought for padding other things. They are really cheap on Amazon. Like you I know that there are places where you can't wear your weapon and needed something secure. The higher end console safes and under the rear seat safes were a bit too pricey for me.
In reply to the person who suggested just leaving the gun at home, there may come a time between work and home that it might be needed.

Remember, if you can't access it easily from your seat it'll be useless in emergency, and eyes will see you access it, making it not secure...

Very true on both accounts. Mine sits on my e-brake handle while in the vehicle. When I get out, it gets put under my shirt. On the very rare occasion that I can't take it with me, currently I opt to not go at all, and if I absolutely have to go, well.....

I plan on putting the box that Hooligan suggested ($47 delivered) behind the rear seat, bolted down from inside the box plus the cable attachment, and then lock the rear seat. I stay extremely cognizant of my surroundings at all times, so the probability of someone actually seeing me putting a weapon back there sits right next to zero.

Here's what I have:
https://www.hornady.com/security/lock-boxes/standard-lock-box-xl#!/

It's not that expensive. I have it bolted to OEM welded nuts in tub (not through the tub so that it can be "manipulated from below". It also has a cable that can be run to one of the welded in seat latches, which you can see in the first pic).

Before I installed the Goose Gear Rear Seat Delete:

After the rear seat delete:

Don't know why the idea of putting it in the rear seat storage didnt cross my mind. Especially since the seat could be locked with the fob. Seems like the ideal place EXCEPT for having to go to the back seat in order to access it (vs pulling a box out from under the driver's seat and never having to leave the car). Gives me something else to consider... Thanks!!!!

LifePod works great when hard wired properly to the truck and can be used at home and when you fly.

Tuffy console safe is nice as well but might have issues with a full-size, compacts and sub compacts fit decently. Overall security is moderate but with nobody watching the vehicle either of the above would easily be defeated.

Good luck.
I actually have a Tuffy Center Storage Safe and figured it was impossible to fit a handgun in there. Looking at a Walther PDP Compact (4" barrel) which is on the bulkier side for a concealed carry and can't imagine it fitting in there but I guess I wont know til I get it. What handgun are you fitting in your Tuffy?

Don't hold me to this (I'm sure 20 people will tell me if I'm wrong) but the rear seat locks only lock the seat back into position. I didn't think they also locked the seat bottom. It's been so long since I had rear seats...

I get what you are saying about the proximity of where the gun is being stored; however (and this is just how my brain rationalizes it) your scenario of having to leave it locked up when you are at work doesn't necessitate having it in close proximity. I mean, that is similar to my use case. If I am going into a restaurant, store, etc. and I don't want it stolen from the vehicle....kinda doesn't matter to me where it gets stored.

Now when I do want it quickly accessible:

You are correct that only the seat back locks.

No matter how much you look over your shoulders, unless you can see zero vehicles, you should always assume that someone is there watching you... you just cannot see them. Many times there are people just sitting in vehicles watching everyone coming and going...

I don't work in the greatest area so not having to get out is still ideal. Also, handguns outside of law enforcement in NYC has basically been outlawed for 80 years until a Supreme Court ruling just last year so I'd prefer no one see the gun if possible because people have a hard time grasping the 2nd amendment here.

As for the rear seat not locking you are correct It's just the seat back. Would've been nice to have the storage lock. Although i wonder if anything could fit behind that seat back? I haven't looked back there to see if there's ample enough gap.

The holster is very cool. Does your leg ever brush up against it?

There is room behind the seat back for sure. I have my compressor mounted there (and when I still had seats):

There is no interference with my leg and holster. The whole thing has enough adjustability that I can get it positioned properly. It’s a Dara Holster that they sell with a ball mount built in and the I have a combination of RAM arms/clamps to hold it to a bar under the seat.

In my Tuffy I can put my Sig P365 XL with Holoson sight in the IWB Holster or I can also put my Glock 19 with Holoson & streamlight 7A or my H&K VP9.

Just use the OEM case for the gun and store it under the back seat?

My rear seat fits a 28 inch Benelli and Scar 17. I don't have the same laws as you, so I keep mine in center console.

But I believe the concern is someone breaking into the car and how to prevent the firearm from being stolen in that scenario. Under the rear seat or in the center console doesn’t “secure” the firearm in the vehicle….

You're better off just leaving it at home, but if you're set on a box then find one that cannot be unbolted from the outside (i.e. the safe has to be open in order to access whatever is securing it in place).

Jeep's are easy enough to bust into, no use adding an easy theft of a weapon (tied to your name) to the list.
The obvious answer there is to get yourself a drop gun to use.
