TOTALLY different systems. The GC has been very sure-footed for years. In fact, when the Youtubers put the GC up against other "SUVs" in snow and such, the GC almost always wins. They aren't even the same thing, and they are very different target audiences! Grand Cherokees are mostly on road vehicles capable of going off road, Gladiators are aimed at those who modify or go off road but want a street vehicle too. Different target markets, very different. Then not having select-trac during bad snow and ice was also a reminder of my config not being ideal and up to date. just too basic of a 4wd system that struggles when it should not have any issue. My former Grand Cherokee was easily able to drive where my gladiator struggled badly.
Like already said - tires matter.
I had Falken A/Ts on mine for a while - not great in winter. I later bought General A/Tx tires for my JT and it was a big difference. I didn't need 4H nearly as much. I could go up hills with less trouble in the snow.
