Then not having select-trac during bad snow and ice was also a reminder of my config not being ideal and up to date. just too basic of a 4wd system that struggles when it should not have any issue. My former Grand Cherokee was easily able to drive where my gladiator struggled badly.
TOTALLY different systems. The GC has been very sure-footed for years. In fact, when the Youtubers put the GC up against other "SUVs" in snow and such, the GC almost always wins. They aren't even the same thing, and they are very different target audiences! Grand Cherokees are mostly on road vehicles capable of going off road, Gladiators are aimed at those who modify or go off road but want a street vehicle too. Different target markets, very different.

Like already said - tires matter.
I had Falken A/Ts on mine for a while - not great in winter. I later bought General A/Tx tires for my JT and it was a big difference. I didn't need 4H nearly as much. I could go up hills with less trouble in the snow.

Tires are big factor in winter.
I have winter tires, I'm referring to how our standard 4wd system binds when turning which Is the nature of this system, it's very basic. The newer option of Selec-trac addresses this. Nothing too deep to look into here.

Bought my 2020 Sport S in June 2020. 59K miles have not had a major issue with the truck. Long time Jeep owner 74 CJ5, 78 CJ7, 04 TJ, 05 TJ, 13 JK. They were all different but fun. I am very pleased with this Jeep.

i've only had mine for a couple months, but it's been great. it's so easy to modify - especially with the wealth of info from this forum and the sister JL forum. i've been enjoying it more now that i've made the changes i wanted (mostly audio and tires). i finally drove it around without doors or the top...and it's a blast. definitely something you can't get from any other truck.

only on sticky or dry pavement.
Like any basic part time system, on other makes.
I had my t-case in 4H part time to plow snow and hit dry spots on the road and I thought the thing was going to lock when I made a tight turn up there.

About a year and a half into ownership (14k miles), and it's still solidly "meh". I've done plenty of mods and upgrades, but most of it was fixing stuff I thought was wrong, nothing that ever really made me smile because I wanted it.

It's not the fault of the truck though; I'm just not the right person for it. I (now) work from home full time, my wife has a Wrangler that we take if we ever do offroad stuff, and I can't even fit in the garage. So my Mojave is basically just really expensive driveway furniture that occasionally gets stuff from Home Depot.

If the used market hadn't just taken a massive shit, I'd probably be looking at something else.

I was quite excited when i got mine just over three months ago. I was hell bent on getting out of my aging F150 while it still had value, while also getting me back into a Jeep after missing my TJ. It just doesnt quite fit the bill as well as Id hoped. I need more interior space for the fam, I miss having too much HP (a tuned 3.5 TT is a beast), and Id really like a bit more comfort for commuting (1 hr + a day). Its a great rig, but Ill echo the above, its just doesnt suite my lifestyle very well. I told myself Id keep it through the summer. Perhaps the doors/top off will change my attitude a bit, but Ive got some 1/2 tons saved on autotrader. Again echoing someone above, Ill take a pretty good hit getting rid of it. Seems I bought right before the market dipped.

To me, its a good spare/fun vehicle. It doesnt really make sense to commute in.

Well about 2.5 months and 3800 miles in to my JTM ownership.

My only concern when I bought it was the 3.6...........but I must have gotten the factory freak, because I'm not disappointed at all.

The really bench test for it was a good road trip. Well after Christmas I made a trip up to Maine from Maryland and I didn't hate it.....actually enjoyed cruising along at 75-80mph both ways.

in Feb of 2013 i almost immediately had regret in buying a 2 door jeep wrangler sport...although i purchased what i could afford at the time really wanting to own a jeep. (I traded in my nissan frontier crew cab that i loved, it was 10 years old though so time to move on...) i regretted not have auto locks or power windows, no back seat doors...and from day 1, when you moved the passenger seat forward to let people sit in the back seat, the carpet in the front would rip up from under the front passenger seats left side molding...even after an attempt at gluing it...so each time i would have to spend time tucking it back in under the molding etc before anyone would notice....
BUT i kept that darn jeep loving all the jeep waves i got, loving that my friends loved that i owned a jeep as much as i owned loving a jeep finally...and it all grew on me...for 10 years!
So 1 month short of owning it exactly 10 years i purchased a 2023 Jeep Gladiator Sport (no less haha) Willy...
and i love it...from day 1 i was like who cares about the no auto locks and no power windows....i have a 4 door Jeep AND a Truck!!! The best of both worlds combining my 2 favorite ever vehicles i have owned. AND at a payment i could afford (hence the sport but the Willy edition helps me feel better about that haha).
anyway, i haven't owned this long of course as it has only been 2 weeks but it is already my favorite vehicle...i get lots of people telling me how much they love it, friends think i am way cooler than i probably am and still get to enjoy all the jeep waves when driving on the road!
life is good!
(here it is, complete with my traditional Blue October sticker on the back...it's an original from 1997, i made sure to have one for every vehicle i would ever own to support my best friend of 26 years and his band!)
