Pretty sure Warren Distribution does private label manufacturing for both Costco Kirkland and Walmart SuperTech oil and is the same oil.Just picked up two 5 quart containers of 0w20 full synthetic from Costco for $30, this is now my favorite oil, was SuperTech 0w20 before.
This cross-pollination is true with some of their oils, but not across the board. Look at the safety sheets and you will see that the percentage of PAO in most Shell products is pretty minimal. It is a great deal higher in Mobil 1 EP. Even Mobil 1 AFE has a significantly higher percentage, last I looked, compared to RGT, Pennzoil Platinum, or PUP. Regular Mobil 1 is closer to the Shell products and appears to have a good dose of their GTL in it. But not in 0w20 (AFE). I haven't looked at M1 Truck/SUV, but will check it out shortly. Not much difference between Shell products and Mobil. Mobil 1 is now a mixture of GTL and PAO as is Shell. Mobil is buying and using a lot of GTL in their products. GTL is a great base oil to start with.
Cool! Looks like they've changed it a bit. Used to be a minimum of 30%.
I'm with Mac, I've been using it in my LJ for close to a decade. I've over 1/4 million miles on it. Oil analysis remarks that it's got way less wear than similar engine's of same use.Warren oil makes SuperTech for Walmart, from what I have read it is decent oil, been using it for a while in my vehicles mostly 0w20 full synthetic.
My Gladiator takes only Synthetic 0W-40 oil. I change my oil approximately 5 times a year. Presently I am using Mobil 1 but each oil change is 15 quarts and I change it every 5,000 miles so it does get expensive. I noticed that Wal-Mart sells its own brand (Super Tech?) and it is much cheaper. Can anyone tell me any history of the Super Tech? Is it a quality oil?
Things are continuously changing. GTL is changing the oil world and Shell is continuing to produce more and more.Cool! Looks like they've changed it a bit. Used to be a minimum of 30%.
Can you find the one for Truck/SUV? I'd bet it is similar.
From reading this, it looks like ExoM is getting more vague, so it may not have changed as much as it appears. Some in that thread are saying the formulation didn't change at all but rather they are getting more secretive about the amount of PAO. One guy says the pour point didn't change, and that tells him the PAO is still there. Who knows? But I do know this. Exom likes PAO. They always have. And they love it in the 20k mile EP line, especially 0w20.

Pennzoil has a flash point of 207C and Mobil is 220C. Not really much difference. From reading this, it looks like ExoM is getting more vague, so it may not have changed as much as it appears. I know at one point they publicized 70% PAO in the base of EP 0w20. I've also seen 30-40%, which is still above anything Shell has ever claimed or published for their oils. And with a flash point of only 204 C with Pennzoil Platinum, I'd say there isn't any meaningful amount of PAO in it. Even the generic oils from blenders do better than that. Not sure why PP is that low. But i still believe it is great oil. GTL is superior to Group III, in my humble opinion, so I like the Pennzoil products.
It's almost splitting hairs, but I'm looking at 0w20 in both oils and Pennzoil Platinum is published on their own web site at 204. That's the regular PP, not the high mileage or Ultra (which is 208) M1 AFE is 224. That's 399 F for PP and 435 F for M1 AFE Of course, M1 EP is much higher, thanks to the high dose of PAO.Pennzoil has a flash point of 207C and Mobil is 220C. Not really much difference.
Pennzoil has always been on the thinner side. I run 5w-30. Still not a fan of the 20w oils.
looks good. I might have looked up the wrong sheet or a different viscosity. It's almost splitting hairs, but I'm looking at 0w20 in both oils and Pennzoil Platinum is published on their own web site at 204. I love the RGT oils and can't help but wonder if they are a little more robust being that the Rotella brand has that reputation. I like the numbers on the PDS for those oils.looks good. I might have looked up the wrong sheet or a different viscosity.
I have this in the engine presently, so 20w is not of that much interest to me.
