Head of Jeep Brand NA is bullish on Gladiator future

Just don't get the "it's a bad daily driver" take. It's the best daily driver I've ever had, enjoy driving it every single day. Owned a lot of vehicles, all the rest became boring appliances after 3 months, if not sooner.

Maybe the ones who either bought a stripped down Sport, or came from a luxury ride previously (ie. Loaded Ram/Ford 1500)?

I daily drive my (loaded) 2020 JTR, and freaking LOVE it! I bought it with less than 29k miles a year and a half ago for just under $39k and (so far) it's my favorite vehicle yet. Yes, I'd love it with a 5.7L V8 even more, but it's everything I hoped it would be at this point.

I had to stop after 3 pages of the 6 pages here now.

1) More power. More gearing options across all trims.

2) Ain't afraid of IFS if they do it. It will solve the ride issue and can still be a great off roader. I do prefer the solid axles though.

3) Get rid of all the dam luxury junk on the JT ( Sport on up). Power seats, Heated seats, lane changing mirrors, off road pages, crash avoidance, Dual Climate, Electric disconnects, 4K stereos, effing color matched tops and fenders. People bitch about price but need their princess shopping list of options. Bullshit, it's a dam Wrangler. Wonder why there are so many electrical issues?

4) I think the stock and lifted JT rides great, highways or some back road carving.

Currently my 23 is my 6th Wrangler/JT and is one of the top 2 Wranglers I have owned. I could keep it for long term or swap out if they come up with some power and a less optioned JT.

2) not going to make it cost any less, and is likely to reduce sales from those who buy it BECAUSE it's a SFA Jeep.
3) Disagree strongly. I bought mine *BECAUSE* it's loaded, and haven't had an electrical issue yet. For those of us who need it as a DD, we don't want a buckboard on wheels. I suspect most of those who whine about it being so damn uncomfortable as a DD don't have a loaded model.

Yep, I wanted a modern, comfortable truck that I can road trip several states away and then do some trails. When I want a stripped-out basic vehicle, we have the TJ with no carpets to drive around while shouting "WHAT?!" at each other at the top of our lungs.

I don't want another vehicle where I keep earplugs in the glovebox.

What I like about my JT is that I have made it mine. You can't buy one off the lot like mine. If I couldn't do that I probably would have sold it by now. How much is enough power??? just a little more.

That's a lot of engineering.

True it will be some extensive engineering involved but i am sure they can used a lot of the existing tech from Rams, Wranglers. A lot of the things i listed can be done if they would just invest into the brand. The Wranglers already gets a lot of goodies.

Hey hey, it's not that bad! I backward flushed my heater core and now I have heat in my soft top YJ. It is a warm snare drum with a cool exhaust note.

Okay, with all that being said, I'd leave the JT mostly the way it is but with a few changes, no shitty aux battery, a hard top that has some sort of bushings in the pins on the freedom panels (they rattle), rear heated seats, options for gearing and larger tires than 33", steel bumper with integrated winch plate, and a new engine. I would be happy with 315 to 350 HP and 350 or more torque.
