Well it is a 220ci V6 so……

Mileage and power returns aren’t stunning, but for what it is it’s not bad, actually kinda impressive. All I can say is if mileage and power are a bummer….then tow with a 4.0 inline, makes the pentastar feel like a Hellcat.

I towed a 4000lb camper and a 6000lb camper with max tow I use to own and could get between 200 and 220 miles out of it depending on how I drove it towing either one. That was with stock 4:10 gears and on 37's. If I had smaller tires I could of probably gotten about 60 more miles of driving out of it.

I would still be towing with it if it had more interior space but it was too cramped for 2 adults, 2 Grandkids and 4 dogs. I'm now pulling the Grand Design Transcend with a 2024 Ram Rebel which gives us the interior space but I do miss the Gladiator. If it was just the wife and I we would still be towing with the Gladiator

I recently picked up an Ovrlnd camper. On the trip to flagstaff, from Sacramento, I averaged a pretty terrible 15.9. 35’s and 5.13’s without the camper.

On the return I averaged 17.2 (entire trip) with the camper and 17.4 from Bakersfield to sac. Always about 65mph.

My theory is the jeeps windshield is so vertical it’s blowing the air over the camper like a fairing haha. With my softopper I was around 18mpg. So I think the empty bed caused a less aero more disturbed air flow? Who knows.

Long story short, I was pretty happy with 17 mpg with the gasser and a camper. It only weighs 290lbs so that helps.

This is all highway btw. The 5.13’s and 35’s are awesome. Holds 8th at 65mph in a headwind. Love it.
Due to the fine aerodynamic lines of all JTs, wind direction is a huge factor in MPG. With a tail wind fuel economy seems to be quite good. Into a 20 knot head with I'm looking for gas pretty quick.

Retired. Beach bum.
Crappy pic but I just towed my 2500 lbs loaded 5x10 enclosed trailer 6000 miles cross country from Seattle to North Carolina and back. I generally only get 11.2 mpg to 13.7 mpg around town where I live due to 1000 elevation changes and hills just about every time I leave the house (12.3 mpg overall avg). I got 10.3 mpg to 15.9 mpg (!!!) towing with a 13.8 mpg overall average.

I found it hilarious that my best mileage was when it was brand new 100% stock all highway at 14.3 mpg...then I get 15.9 towing lol...now granted I had a bit of a tailwind on that tank. I had really low expectations on mileage towing and brought jerry cans in case, but I averaged 13.8 mpg for the whole trip on 37s and 5.38 gears driving between 60-70 mph, which is better than my 12.3 mpg overall average the first 24k miles.

Not gonna lie though...I sometimes regret not getting the diesel because the 3.6 is gutless especially towing at altitude or with a headwind. But the reliability issues of the diesel and inability to delete the shit off of it swayed me back to gas. My trailer is relatively light at 2500 lbs loaded and the motor struggled in the hills and wind...cant imagine someone pulling 6k-7k lbs. My trailer will also fit in a garage and at a very similar height and width of the Jeep so I literally have a best case scenario for efficiency of a cargo trailer.

Cheers

If I had the extra $$$$, I still wouldn’t get the diesel. But instead have a supercharger installed in my Sport S Gladiator 3.6, that I don’t tow with but find comfortable and very adequate all around.

Don’t have the math in front of me, but around here diesel is typically 50-75 cents more per gallon than gas. So when we’re talking single digit mpgs more vs gas I think it’s a wash or even slightly more expensive to drive a diesel JT.
