How is Jeep managing the heat in the 392? Lower payload in the Diesel due to heat, how does that factor?

The general consensus is that for the Gladiator with the Diesel engine, the reason the payload/towing capacity is reduced vs the gas engine version is because Jeep has not been able manage the heat generated and keep things cool under high loads from towing/large payload.

Then comes the the 392 which has to generate a lot of heat. more than the Diesel engine... I guess the question is what have they done to better manage the heat in the Wrangler 392? Thoughts, ideas?

I wouldn't think the v8 would cause more heat... no turbo.

Plus a A diesel engine is about 20% more thermal efficient than a gas engine

The functional hood scoop is for the intake, the grill is the same. No intake air cooler inthe NA 392 engine. So its not clear to me where the more airflow would be coming from...

80% more horsepower and no more heat ? How would that work ?
It doesn’t have a heat trap(turbo) in a tiny space. A turbo can get into the 1700deg range under heavy boost. Typically exhaust manifolds on street engines rarely see half that and it’s much easier to manage the heat from manifolds with how exhaust is routed.

That’s just combustion chamber figures. That’s not the heat generated by other factors. Turbo and exhaust mainly.

The gladiator crate 392 engine is rated at higher HP and torque than the wrangler OEM 392 installation. I have not pulled that kit apart to see if they address cooling for the JT (yet).

Not even remotely close in comparison, gas vs diesel, NA vs forced induction. As mentioned the turbo generates a ton of heat that the 392 won’t.

I had read about not being able to get the engine heat outtoo, but figured the JT Eco tow choke point might really be the rear D44 axle? Maybe not.....Just an aluminum cover would buy some more headroom.

I have also not seen mention of what the Hemi JL will be equipped with for a rear axle....Cant see how the Current D44 would make it through a set of tires with that much power on tap! D60 or one of the metric Dana equivalents? Even a D60 will be begging for mercy with some bigger rubber!

Yea but the gas Gladiators and Wranglers with the D44 are rated for the full 7,7xx towing capacity. Correct?
