I've read that the Jeeps are not winter vehicles, but I would beg to differ.
Seems a weird thing for folks to say. Where did you hear that??

Although, it is a little strange there's no block heater option.

I've read an article or two, I think there is even a youtube video on it somewhere. Lots of haters out there, I don't tend to give them too much notice.

Agreed. I’ve owned several 4x4 pickup trucks and the JT outperforms them all in winter driving scenarios. The first time I drove in deep snow I was laughing like a school girl. The thing just goes where it’s pointed. The JT is extremely capable in winter.

It seems that option is no longer. When I was looking at the build options list a few weeks ago there was the option...it since has been removed for some reason. Maybe they're not necessary with these newer engines though.

6,700 and the only issue is bottoming out of the front end. Still waiting to see what the fix is before I play with it. Just went over a 1” transition while turning left at a light and the right side bottomed out. At the light I was the second in line so I went all of 20 feet from a stop.

A lot of people who are new to solid axles don't realize that an open diff or a diff with locker (no LSD) can be a challenge in the snow, since just one wheel spins in a low traction situation (in 2hi). I think this is where the notion comes from. Its nice that jeep finally offers a 4hi auto transfer case on some models for poor weather. As for the block heater, I have one factory installed on my 2021

I have a diesel and my solution for this was a leveling isolator and I installed sumo springs (not actually springs, but more of a progressive bumpstop) in place of the factory bump stop. Much better.

I suppose it comes down to skill and experience.... I had a old truck with open diff's, it was fine with some finesse... My OBS 7.3 has true-tracks front and rear - pretty much unstopable...

When did you order your gladiator? Is it diesel?I just double checked today and didn't see a block heater option on any of the models. Could have misread something though. I will ask the dealer about it before placing an order - although they didn't know anything more than what the website told them.

Yep- even just the factory rear LSD helps quite a bit. For those of us used to older trucks, I think that logic of how to drive in bad weather is pretty common-sense. From the JK onwards it seems like there are a lot of people who have never owned a 4x4 before, or equate it to being the same as an AWD, and are shocked that a mighty rubicon with factory M/Ts typically doesn't drive all that well in slick weather compared to the AWD SUV/CUV they came from.

My JT is indeed a diesel and it was built in mid June 2021

Have you tried Auto?
Honestly, I can't say that I have. Really I live in Florida and I use 2 settings, AC on low and defrost. Defrost doesn't work on auto and it is what gives me the most trouble. I just want some lukewarm air when it is cold in the morning but I either get the arctic or the surface of the sun. I drive rental cars most weeks of the year so I have tried many different ones so I can say it isn't "normal" to work this way. Pretty much everyone says it works fine in auto but like I said, no auto in defrost mode.

Mine uses the defroster in auto mode.
Interesting. As soon as I hit the front defrost button it kicks Auto off. If I try to turn auto back on it changes from the defrost vents.
