This is pretty typical. Jeep Service in my experience is so backed up that it can takes days stretching over a week to get an appointment in the shop. I find that not calling and driving up to the service bay helps

Jeeps also in my experience get a lot of false positives on engine lights. A common one is that the fuel cap isn't tight.

It's also quite common for these things to go away overnight. The light indicates there is a message. If it blinks there is something wrong.

If you lift or anything, you might get a programmer to set the new tire sizes. A side benefit is they can read the service codes, which you can look up yourself.

Sadly, this is all normal for owning a jeep, including the lackadaisical service department
99% of the time a Jeep “Check Engine” comes on, it the fuel cap! Been that way for two decades! ;{

Shit the only time I had mine go on was from one of the pistons blowing in my JK. I wish it was a fuel cap :CWL::CWL::CWL:

Just to follow up on not being able to read OBD2 codes (CEL) with a standard reader. I discovered the problem. Well , I am probably one of the last to know but will pass on anyway.

Since 2018 FCA begain installing SGWs (Security Gateway Modules), usually installed above the OBD2 port and prevents access to the OBD2port from all but dealer diagnostic tools. The purpose is to protect the CANBUS from cyber attacks via wifi, telematics etc. If you want to use a regular scanner you must unplug this module....

I had a Cylinder 3 Misfire non-blinking message on my SRT. I kinda think it was worse than it let on....not blinking and all.

Roller tip froze up..... owey
Yep...needles were gone and the roller was more Stop Sign shaped. Not sure I could have really saved the cam regardless of how quick I caught it. I didn't hear anything other than Hemi tick...nothing. That thing should have squeaked something awful !!

New cam going in.

Just sayin'....Service engine light, could just be a gas cap, or could be the last breath of an exhaust lobe being wiped off the face of the world.

Follow up.... I decided to stop by the dealership over the weekend to see if they would just read the code. The code was P0300 or a misfire. The engine is running just fine so agreed to clear the code. So far I have put 200 miles since clearing the code with no issues. I am just crossing my fingers it does not come on again.

We need a indicator lights instead of gauges said no one ever.

Let's make it so dealerships are only option for service said no one ever.

Let's throw all parts Jeep's in a heap and only sell new ones said no one ever.

Hey has your Jeep thrown that code again? Mine has twice now in the past two weeks and the dealership can’t seem to figure out why after every running every test imaginable and checking every sensor. Unfortunately it hasn’t thrown the code while in their care and it seems to be coming back every other week.

Yes, my Jeep had the code come back. I actually just picked it up today. They could not find an issue after having it for 3 weeks and replacing all of the harnesses. Let me know if your dealer ever figures out what is wrong. My dealer exhausted everything they know including calling the engineers back at the Corp office.

Thats where my dealership ended up too now, I picked mine back up today so I’m sure it’ll come back on again in a week or two, they say possibly something in the software but it’s so new it’s a learning curve for them. I’d hate for this to keep happening and have to go the lemon law route.

Based on what the dealer told you, I think I figured out where the term "dummy light" originated from. Take care of your JT, cuz I don't think the dealer will take care of it for you. Best of luck to ya.
