This is nothing.Who would have thought such a little thing would have turned into such a polarizing debate! HA! I love the internet...
The 1999 4-runner SR5 has the same change holder on top of the center consol3 months of ownership and I notice this last night as I installed some Gibson leather phone holsters (which are AWESOME! btw)
I knew the rear seat backs locked and the glove box locked, but this, nope! ?
I know this is probably known by most, but figured there had to be others like me out there that didn’t. I’ll take the public humiliation to help others out.

just the glove box on mine is pull harder. The rear seat i actually had one of my buddies rip the pull strap out cus they didn't know it was locked. the center console you can break off.the 'lock' is dogshit. lock your rear seats then pull on them. opens with just a tad more effort that unlocked.
It is the Law of Triviality. Cyril Northcote Parkinson's 1957 argument that people within an organization commonly give disproportionate weight to trivial issues.Who would have thought such a little thing would have turned into such a polarizing debate! HA! I love the internet...

I’m sensing a pattern here…. has anybody checked the tailgate?Pretty sure the doors lock too!
? Ya’ll need to stop. ? My truck locks the tailgate for me - tonneau or no tonneau. ?Its especially important to have the tailgate locked when there is no tonneau cover on.![]()

they'll lock when they are off - but you have to use the key................. Just in case anyone wants to lock them...........Pretty sure the doors lock too!
Not when they’re off
They do. You can lock them before you take them off. That way nobody can open them with them in storage.
i have unopened warranty papers and owners manual for 1982 Eagle. The one my car came with was worn out - but I found unopened pieces to use with the car at car shows.Hmmm this relates to a post I made a few days ago.

For some perspective on this, all of them have tabbed or dog eared pages for faster access to sections. Not much in early ones do to simple information needed quickly is wrote into memory. The later owners manuals has much more information about the vehicle. Heck if you ever need something to put you to sleep take one to bed with you and start reading it.
No shade to O.P. on this thread.
