Greetings. After having two XJs (1988, 1994), I wanted a pickup, so I got away from Jeeps. In 2023, I looked to replace my Canyon with another Canyon (AT4X), but the dealership botched the deal, so I set out to buy a Gladiator.
After seeing the Rubicon 4xe, I got a bright idea... Get the 4xe, let my wife get used to it, she'll take it and I'll get my Gladiator. We've been married now for over 40 years, but man did I miss that one. We later got her a Volvo XC40 which is surprisingly fun to drive.
So, I built out my Rubicon, wheeled it at Windrock, Land Between The Lakes, Hot Springs, eastern Kentucky, on our farms.
I haven't driven the Rubicon since December 30 when it failed the 68c Recall (still awaiting the new battery), and the ice/sleet/snow storm didn't go well with the 2wd Grand Cherokee loaner. I decided to light a candle instead of curse the darkness and got a 2025 Gladiator Mojave X almost exactly like I want it. I've had it over a week, absolutely love it. It's much better on the highway than my Rubicon, and just fine for my needs in the farms. It's not a farm truck, just what I use when I need to be on our farms.
I'll continue to wheel the Rubicon, it's built out just like I want it. I won't need to do very much to the Gladiator, but I will add a Sunrider, change the wheels & tires.
I now have my Fun Jeep and a fun Jeep.
