I am a fairly new Jeep Gladiator Rubicon owner, bought mine the first of Oct. I have put a little of 7k miles on it and drive it about 100 miles a day. Coming from muscle cars it was a bit of a paradigm shift but honestly one of the most fun vehicles I've owned. Things about it I enjoy is being able to work on it from below without ramps or a lift for the most part, all the aftermarket toys. I call this the "Mr Potato Head" of trucks. The only thing I wasn't prepared for was the mileage. It was a little lower than advertised but what the heck, the tradeoff is good. One other thing to mention, compared to other cars it requires a little more engagement from the driver when on the road which is another plus to me. I won't fall asleep at the wheel lol.

With pages of issues to read about, Jeep marking down Gladiators up to 13K. Are Jeep Gladiators worth having?
Out of curiosity, what are the “pages of issues” you are referring to? Asking for a friend.

The Gladiator is the first new vehicle I've ever bought, I'm very happy with my purchase. It fits my lifestyle perfectly, couldn't imagine driving anything else.

People flock to forums to complain about or look for info about issues, and it makes it look like that particular vehicle is nothing but issues. No one comes to forums to talk about everything thats good.

My understanding with price drops is two fold, 1) because the new Stellantis heads stated prices are too high and putting vehicles into price markets they shouldn't be in, and 2) to combat inflation and a drop in market share in the U.S and boost sales.

I see this as new leadership trying to do right by the people and the business, and fix the disaster previous leadership left behind.
It's a lot like being married. I complain a lot about some issues and there are some headaches but she's nice to look at and 1 to 2 times a week makes me feel really good.

Worth having? Define worth having first.
Does anybody need a JT? No. Do JT owners need them? Nope. Most of us just buy things we want. A JT (my opinion) is merely a toy.

I'm sure the pages referenced are forum pages covering dirty little details such as:

  1. Aluminum corrosion
  2. Aluminum steering boxes
  3. Camshaft and follower issues
  4. Sun visors falling out
  5. ESS failures
  6. Loose fuses
  7. Premature battery failures
  8. Clutch detonations
  9. Clutch recall and software flash issues
  10. Death wobble
  11. Proximity door locks failing
  12. Dashboard Christmas lights
  13. Uconnect
  14. Heated steering wheel failures
  15. Limp mode
  16. Hard mode
  17. Bump steer
  18. Steering shimmy
  19. Wandering
  20. I'm sure there's more
And these are just the issues that come from factory, not even the ones that can occur when you open up that first bag of Legos. But as I said don't let any of that dissuade you. I friggin love my Gladiator.

It works for me. Getting stuff for the house, hauling a small U-Haul trailer, carrying the kayak (will be starting spring), green & blue trails or beach driving, and parades.

I’ve never heard of any of these issues outside of literally any vehicle built post covid. Plus, if you buy a vehicle with two live axles and have ANY complaints about suspension and/or steering, maybe a nice Hyundai is for you instead. I wouldn’t trade mine for the world.

Welp…. that would depend on what you‘re looking for, what you want, what you expect, what you’re used to….. bla bla yadda yadda….

This forum (and a gazillion other Facebook groups) wouldn’t exist if they weren’t worth it.

On my second JT. Only issue in 5 years was a sun visor clip break. Been very happy ( why I bought another one) truly hard to break off road. ( I am sure it looked like I was trying to break it at times) it's an underpowered buggy in the modern world of turbo 4s. But darn it it's just fun.

If you want big power look elsewhere
If you want cadillac smooth handling on road look elsewhere
If you want a simple truck that will do what you need and still make you smile stuck in traffic or amaze you offroad,, welcome to jeep.

To OP.... Depends who you ask

Some had nothing but problems with their gladiator...

Others have had no to little problems

I personally love my gladiator, no issues other than the few recalls (none officially caused me any issues) at 48k miles built during covid (May21)

Is it a perfect truck... No
Is it a perfect jeep... No

But is it fun, reliable, customizable and do jeep truck things... For me YES!

Mine was fun for a while but after driving a Rivian, there's an unrelenting sensation that a gladiator charges 2024 prices for 2008 tech. The engine is adequate AT BEST, the MPG is poor, the ride is poor, and a lot of money needs to go in to make it what you want.

That said...

The factory sound system is pretty dang good. Mine hasn't had an iota of trouble and has been dead-bang reliable absent the aux battery/main battery depleting each other. Mine has towed my trailer adequately, meaning it got from point A to B each time it's been asked without issue. I have easily conquered most socal trails (thank you 37s) without lockers, as the wheelbase makes it hard to get turtled. The breakover angle of course isn't great, but it takes a long to get it truly stuck in my opinion.

Overall if you use it as a tool, it's pretty good. If you don't plan to go offroad, I would say it's a terrible truck.

Edit- my sunvisors have also snapped.

Jeep Gladiator Is 1
